I saw at home depot in the Disney paint the idea for painting a Buzz lightyear bedroom for a little boy, and we are going to do it for Peyton since we are moving him out of his nursery. And Toy Story is his favorite movie!!!

I have a few questions to see if anyone has any ideas. We will not be building the bed in the wall, it is just not an option for us in the room he is going in, so does anyone have any ideas for what I can do behind the bed?? We have no furniture yet, but I was going to get some unfinished furniture (bookcase, dresser) and paint them with some of the paint. I am just drawing a blank for behind the bed?? Or just leave it blank???

Also, has anyone seen any Buzz lightyear comforters or bedskirts in a size full anywhere?? I dont really like the set they have at the disney store right now, and all I can find are size twin!!!

Here is the link to the bedroom. Any ideas would be great!!

I did this for my son in the house we are building. We copied the picture as best as we could. The bed in the wall will be added for his birthday in the summer as a surprise. I did not use orange in the room yet but did copy all the others. I will try to scan a photo for you to see.
As for accessories, I got the border(it is a sticker not regular wallpaper so it's easy to put up), stencils, the stamps, and the stickers to put on the walls. The border is hung in the middle of the wall all the way around. The stamps I used on the ceiling(which is dark blue) with glow in the dark paint. The stencils I used around his computer area, and the stickers I used in his bath.
Bedding is avaliable at KMart or try West Point Stevens. For Christmas I got him the Buzz Lightyear clock and boom box avaliable at Circuit City. I also was lucky enough to find the little interactive figure of Buzz. It talks back when you make noise.
Feel free to email me with any questions.

We did my son, Peyton, room in Buzz Lightyear as well. We used the border to try two colors on the wall together that was there from his nursey. We used a dark purple on the bottom half of the wall and a light blue on the top.

We also used lime green fun noodles (the kind you use in pools) as crown molding. It looks really cool. It is stuck up there with velcro and in some places hot glue.

His bedding we got from Pottery Barn Kids. We brought the duffee cover for the Space theme. I don't think it is available anymore but you may could find it on ebay.

We also used the stickers, and stencils on the walls.

One last thing, we brought some of those glow in the dark stars and also stuck them on the wall.

Peyton loves his room - thinks it is way cool!!

If you have any questions, send me a email.

WOW, I would LOVE to see pictures!!! All the Kmarts in my area closed, but there is one near my mom's house, that I am going to have her check!!!

Well, Mom is picking up the comforter at her kmart. She got the last one in size full!! Do you know if they even sell bedskirts to match this set??? If not, what did you do??

I went to Home Depot today to buy the stencil for the starts and plants for the walls and ceiling (like in the picture), but they did not have it anymore!! So, now I am trying to find it somewhere!!!

That is about all I am at so far, I think we are going to start painting in a few weeks!!! That should be fun!

I have a question, what did you guys do with the closet doors?? Did you paint it, if so, what color?

Before you paint with the BUZZ colored paint
you could paint on the 'magnetic' paint to make one wall magnetic -
then print out all kinds of space pics on your computer (including Buzz himself of course) and put them up - then he has something to play with that is a decoration too!

That is a GREAT idea!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!

Mom/Nana got the comforter today AND two pillowcases!!! So we are getting there!!! We are goign to start painting soon!

We use the closet for toys and clothes - top half for the clothes and the bottom half with buckets to hold toys - we removed the closet doors and bought some cool fabic and made a curtain for the closet. Now Peyton has easy access to his toys and it looks really neat!!

I'll try to take some pictures and attach them later if I can figure out how to do so.

I cant wait to see it. This sounds like a great idea!!! I was even thinking of maybe navy blue fabric and putting the glow in the dark stars on it too.

Did you hang it on a curtain rod of some sort for easy movement back and forth??

It's mounted on a curtain rod. The sides are pulled back using tye backs. The middle part has another curtain that only hangs down enough to cover the clothes.

Just gotta put my 2 cents worth in.

Before DS was born, we painted the room light blue and stenciled gold stars all around the walls, heavier in one corner and then fewer and fewer until we went all the way around. (Luckily he was a boy.... didn't know what we were having!). And we put glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling (actually, they were still there from when our DD was born and we did the nursery for her!). We actually did that to match the Noah's Ark crib set we bought.

Then when he progressed to a toddler bed, we got the Blues Clues set. It went just fine with the blue walls and stars.

Then, when he was ready to move to a big bed, I had purchased, on clearance, a large stencil of Buzz. It came with several stamps of rockets, space ships, etc. I did the stencil on one wall where I had previously had a large wall hanging and hence, hadn't stenciled the stars there! I put a few of the rockets, etc around buzz in metallics and bright colors.(The stencil itself is about 12 inches high.)

I was able to buy, on clearance at Linens and Things, a great navy blue comforter and sham with white stars and yellow moons on it. STays with the theme, but not overwhelmingly Buzz. The bed we bought is a captains bed with the drawers underneath, so we didn't need a dust ruffle. A neighbor made my son for his birthday, matching Buzz and Zurg pillows from fabric she bought at Walmart (just cut out the squares, stitch, stuff, and instant pillow!). I bought the coordinating fabric with an all-over buzz and zurg pattern for curtains. Real quick to make rod pocket panels. I used stationary hold-backs I bought at Linens and THings that have blue crackled glass balls on them.

Anyhow, since then we have seen the "Buzz" room design at home depot. Very soon I will be removing the curtains and adding some plywood cutouts around the window to mimic the window design in the picture. I don't want to paint my stained trim so I will be making a large "picture frame" type thing to put over the whole window that will be painted. I will secure it to the wall. Drywall holes can be easily filled when he is tired of this design. Of course, I have been promising to do this for months!! But I will get to it before the winter ends!! .......................P
