Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story Mania - spinning?

I dislike spinning. It makes me nauseous. I can't do tea cups, but I can do the carousel and Dumbo/Aladdin ride, things like that.

I tried watching you tube videos and it looks like both Buzz and Toy Story Mania spin around. I can't tell if that is controlled by the person in the car, or if that is just part of the ride.

Can anyone help?

I'm not a fan of spinning but was OK with TSM because you just careen around corners. I don't think it had any full spins. I actually loved the ride and thought it was super fun.

The spinning on Buzz is entirely user controlled but I found it far more disconcerting. DH tried to adjust our position, I wasn't expecting it, and we spun much more than he ever thought we would. We still ride Buzz (I like competition rides) but I would warn/ask your ride partner to not spin the car. I take charge of the joystick and move it very lightly if we want to face in another direction.

I wouldn't call it spinning, since you aren't making full revolutions. But you do turn very quickly 1/4 or 1/2 turn.

It appears that you have a problem with spinning when you are closer to the axis of rotation (tea cups - you are spinning on several axes and one you are directly on). On Dumbo, you are far from the axis of rotation. So Buzz and Toy Story have you on an axis of rotation but the rotation is somewhat minimal as you are expected to be able to shoot at things. Like others have pointed out, you are not really doing full turns, more 90 and 180 rotations.

Just as a little trick, if you are on it and you get dizzy, don't close your eyes. Shield your eyes from anything external to the vehicle you are in and just focus on the vehicle. The vehicle appears stationary relative to you because you are in it so just looking at it will make your mind think that you are still and help reduce motion sickness.

I have problems with vertigo, and I am fine on Buzz. I haven't been on TSM to know how it will effect me yet.

Buzz and TSM don't "spin," they simple make partial turns in different directions. Neither makes a complete 360-degree spin. I think you'll be fine!

I cant spin either. Tge only thing thst gets me on buzz is at the end with all the stars flying. For lack of better way to describe it lol. I tend to get sick when anything zooms past my eyes. Dont know what that is about. But i too can ride carousel. I just close eyes at end of buzz. Great pics lol. Other than that its all good. My thumb hurts more than anything lol

You can make Buzz spin 360 but it's user controlled. You do need to spin at least somewhat to hit the targets. I think in one of the final rooms, the car rotates so they are all facing the same way, much like in Spaceship Earth.

As I recall you do spin around at least 360 if not more going from target to target on TSM and I think a few could have problems but its short and not fast.

I can't handle spinning either. I avoid the teacups but can do the carousel with no issue also. I was fine on both Buzz and TSM. In fact, TSM is our favorite ride so we ride it frequently!

i can not do spinning rides including carousel and teacup rides but i can do Buzz and TSM with no problems.

This gets me every time and I can't understand it. Also, the bubbles on Nemo do the same thing to me. No problems with any other rides in the world, weird stuff. :confused3

Anything where visual cues are inconsistent with your sense of balance has the potential to mess you up. Your eyes are not reporting the same thing to your brain that your inner ear is and it cannot resolve the two.

You should be fine on both of these. My DH can't handle rides than spin like the teacups either, but he does fine on both of these.
