Ok I know this place doesn't get great reviews but is it ever open?

Yes, from 11.30 'til 15/16 PM and in high season or weekends. We've had the luck of it being open everytime we were there. We like it there too, It's a very "alive" place to eat, but we like the food. The pizza and pasta is good, the salads are fresh and the custard and chocolate tart are delicious.
We prefer paying the 20€ (or what is it these days? Last time I went it was 19,95€ an adult without AP discount) for all you can eat and drink, then paying 13,99 for a pizza menu at Bella Note's or Hathi's pizza outpost. The 7€ extra we always manage to eat out of the buffet and we secretly do refill our water bottles at the soda fountain. Yes I know, naughty us, but, ah well. We spend enough money on souvenirs and expensive big dinner meals, so the 3€ less on two bottles of coke or fanta, is not going to make it!
So I'm going against all the bad reviews, and would recommend it!
Especially with kids because of the playground. And I think it's a nice spot for parents to just sit and relax. Lots of them are relieved that their kids can live out playing while they can eat calmly, in stead of being rushed by kids who want to go and have fun in stead of sitting there eating. :goodvibes

We go in just over two weeks mid week in low seasons I guess we don't have much chance of it being open then?! :(

DD loves toy story I know every word to all 3 films we watch them every day and think he would love the play ground. Hopefully run off a bit of all that energy she seems to gather from some where.

Me and DH ate there in 2009 and loved it! It wasn't buffet at the time but still had a good meal! I really hope it is open as my DLP app at the moment says closed! :(

Can I ring and make a reservation to see if it will be open or is it like Annette's where reservation can't be made? Xxx

I don't think they do reservations. You enter and queue like in the counter service restaurants, only in stead of giving your order at the till, you pay and they let you trough. They don't have a separate line for reservations, at least not one that I've seen.
You could always ring and try tough, they'll probably be able to tell you if it'll be open or not. :goodvibes

Is the Pizza Burger still on the menu? I used to like poping in there for lunch as it was normaly quieter than the other resturants as it's tucked away at the back of the park.

Even though it's now a Buffet Service resturant I don't think you can make reservations there and were the first resturant to do unlimited re-fills on soft drinks which is handy.

No I'm afraid it's not. :sad2:
You have a salad buffet with cold vegetables (carrots, salad, cucumber, tomatoes, ...). For mains there are 3 types of pasta (spaghetti, spirelli and I believe a three colour variant) and 3 sauces (vegetarian tomato, bolognaise and carbonara/cream with ham/bacon). Then there are 3 types of pizza (3/4 cheeses, bolognaise and royale with ham and mushrooms). Desserts are about the same as what I recall in the Santa Fe buffet. Custard tart, chocolate tart, chocolate mouse, fruit, apple sauce, chocolate sauce, yoghurt, ...

Last 2 visits we've walked around to Pizza Planet and it's been closed. I'd like to try the buffet there but it's so out of the way we only ever think about it when we're close by.
