has anyone purchased their wedding dress online? has anyone purchased their dress from romantic gowns? i found a dress i really love online but i'm a little apprehensive about buying online since i can't try it on before hand. just wanted to see what you all think about it. i really have no one else to talk to about because i'm not telling my family yet about the wedding but need to get the dress pretty quickly. thanks. let me know what you think about the dress.

i think i'm going with the ivory. i have very pale skin and i usually don't look good in white.

It is a really pretty dress, and for a great price, however I'm not a fan of buying your wedding dress without trying it on first. I just think they look so much different when you're wearing them.

If you're in a rush, this mightn't be a bad idea, but I'd look for reviews on the store first, if it comes to you, and is really bad quality, it might make it more work then it's worth :confused3

Good luck!

I considered ordering my dress from this exact site...I printed off a picture of the dress and brought it with me dress shopping locally....am I ever glad I didn't buy it online! I ended up with a dress that looked nothing like my picture, and i LOVE it! The ones that were styled to look like the picture ended up not looking as good on as they did in the picture. I also found it almost impossible to tell how a dress was going to fit until I got it on! i tried on upwards of 15 gowns to find the right one, and it was worth it.

One of the ladies in the store also gave me the rundown of all the crazy things that can happen when ordering online....and I know that it doesn't happen to everyone but it's a lot harder to fix on your own rather than having the store fix the issues for you....wrong color, wrong style, dress doesn't fit, damaged dress, etc etc etc!

i would at least take an afternoon to shop locally before making the decision.

I bought mine online (in the U.K) my local department store didnt have any instock so I ordered it online through them.

I had no problems at all, I actually bought two different ones to try on and returned the second in store.

I had tried on dresses in wedding shops - and none of which were my style, but made me realise what I wanted :thumbsup2

I bought mine online, from RK Bridal in New York City. But, I did a lot of shopping around first and tried on all sorts of gowns so I was confident that the one I chose was going to look good on me.

The utlimate reason I chose to purchase on line was because RK Bridal could get me a better price on the dress I wanted than any boutique here in the DC area could. Also, they had excellent reviews on the Knot and other sites I looked at. THey are reputable, and have an actualy store in NYC rather than strictly being an online establishment.

Buying on line can be risky, but there are ways to minimize the risk. I'd think it through and go out and try some dresses on first before just purchasing something. Maybe find dresses that are similar to the one you like, and try those on to get an idea of what that one will look like?

HTH, and good luck!
:goodvibes

I am planning on buying my gown online as well...but I'm buying it early spring. I figure, if its' too small, or not quite like it is online, I still have time. The plan is to purchase it around April.

I would definitely try on a few in person first, dresses really do look so different from the picture and it may not look the same on you. I had seen a dress that I loved for so long and thought for sure it would be the one but when I tried it on, while it was pretty it didn't really do anything for me. The dress I ended up picking feels like it was made for me. The first time I went dress shopping I went alone and it was completely fine. After you find a dress you love in person you can begin looking online for deals but this way at least you'll know what you're getting.

I bought one online... and ended up eBaying it, because I didn't like it in person. I agree with others who said it's important to try some dresses on and see how they look. I ended up with a dress that was COMPLETELY different from the dresses I thought I'd like when I looked at them online.

You might consider going to an off-the-rack bridal store like David's Bridal, where you can try on different designs in your own size. (Most boutiques only stock samples in very limited sizes.) Even if you don't buy your dress from David's, you'll have a much better idea of what really looks good on you.

thanks for your recommendations, i guess i just need to force myself to go out and try on dresses. i just hate trying clothes on. I really liked the dress i found online and thought it would be perfect but you never know until you get it what it really would be like. thanks for your help! now i'm glad i didn't order it last night.

i love your choice it is a great one! you've mentioned that you are a bit pale so i was just wondering, for my own opinion if ivory is a good colour for you. i was just thinking of something distinctive colour like red or brown with white combinations, well just my opinion, but still you choose a lovely dress. :cheer2:
