Buying tickets at Disney store months in advance

Just wondering how this works(I've usually bought packages so this is new to me.) I am going to Disney World in Jan. But I'd like to buy my tickets now at The Disney Store--does it matter if it's 3 months away--I assume the tickets can sit around for a few months and when the first day I use them at the park--that's when the days start being counted? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but just not sure how far ahead you can buy the tickets before using them.

You can buy the tickets at any time. The 14 days until expiration does not begin until you first put the ticket in a turnstyle at a park. You can hold them for years and they would still be good.

No, I don't think it matters when you buy them. We were originally thinking of doing that but decided against it because we found out that the dining plan could not be added unless we booked the resort and got the tickets together.

The last time I bought tickets from the Disney Store was in 93 and spent about $400 back then. I was the CM's first sale of the day. I saw the look on her face and knew I had just made her day with that purchase! :teeth:

So glad I read this post. I was thinking I had to buy the 8 day no expiration tickets for a trip in 2007 - silly me. I might go buy my tickets at the Disney store before the price goes up. Do the prices usually go up at the beginning of the year, or earlier?
