Hi, I've got a few questions:

I am renewing and upgrading my own So Cal. Select annual pass to a regular So Cal. pass and I want to buy one for my 5 year old neice who lives in So. Cal also, in Torrance. It's a christmas/birthday present and will be her first pass. We then will both have the regular So Cal pass at $239.

1: Do I use my address or hers? Do I need any proof of residence for her? She will be going Sunday, Jan. 2nd.

2: Jan. 2nd will be blocked out so she would need to pay extra to get in... Am I right?

My current So Cal. Select pass expires Jan 4th with Sunday, Jan 2 blocked out. How much do you pay to get in on a block out day?

Is there a way to apply the block out fee towards buying my new So Cal Annual pass even though Jan. 2nd is also a block out day for the new upgraded pass?

Also If I renew on-line how long does it take to have the character pass mailed to you?

Thanks for any help.

If her pass is being activated for the first time on a blockout day then I don't believe you have to pay for the pass. If your pass is already activated then you will need a blockout pass which I believe is $40? Or maybe the price went up. I think it's a little more now. I don't think they'll let you apply the price of the blockout pass towards the new AP since it would also be blocked that day. Sorry, I can't help with the other questions. Have a fun trip!

A blackout pass is now $50 but like the PP said, you might not need it for your niece if she gets it that day. I renewed online and got my card in a week.

Does anybody have the phone number to ask about annual passes? I just see the vacation planning phone number at the disney page.

Hers, and it will allow her to recieve mail from Disney which should be fun. Minors are not required to carry IDs so I wouldn't worry about it.

As PP said she will need to buy a one day ticket, but then she can apply that cost to her AP. Upgrade it in the afternoon, it must be done the same day to get the credit.

As PP said you will need a blockout ticket. I have not yet need to buy one but I believe they are $50, though $40 may be correct.

Not exactly because it's not on your renewal day the 4th. You could by a 3 day PH and come back on the 5th and upgrade that into a pass.

Also If I renew on-line how long does it take to have the character pass mailed to you?

My GF did this and it took a week total. Because it was processed right away and she had not recieved it, yet she went to the park and had to explain what happened. Her old pass was now invalid because her new pass was made but not recieved. They gave her a special one day pass to get into the parks and aquire FPs.

Okay, the easy one first: yes, blockout day tickets are $50.

Now, as for January 2: You are renewing and upgrading your pass. You live in So. Cal. If you wanted to do so, you could renew your passport on the 2nd. This will do a few things. 1) Get you admission to the Park on Jan 2nd because it's the day you are renewing. 2) You could sign up for the monthly payment plan since you live in So Cal. You will pay the upgrade amount up front and then they can set up the monthly payment plan for the remainder of your AP. 3) Since you are renewing, you will not have to take a new photo as they can use the one on file.

Call the Park and verify nothing has changed in the last couple of months, but this is exactly what my DH did when upgrading from a SCS to a SC AP on a blockout day.

If you activate her pass on a black out day you will not be charged for a blackout pass. I have done this so I know what I'm talking about. You will need a blackout pass but yes you can use that towards an upgrade/renewal iirc. Once you purchase your blackout pass and take your niece to the AP processing center ask them if you can renew/upgrade at the same time, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the yes answer you will receive. :) I suspect this is the case because when we had DAP's we went 1 blackout day and had to purchase 4 blackout passes, as we were purchasing them the CM helping us said "If you decide to upgrade to a PAP you can use the amount that you are paying for these blackout passes towards the upgrade". That was a couple of years ago but I imagine it's the same deal now. :)
