We are looking into adding on points with resale in the next month.
Is everyone else still moving forward with buying resale or waiting to see what happens with any changes?
No one knows what the future holds...but...here are a few of the latest rumors Im hearing on other Disney forums.
Latest Disney RUMORS...
--- messing with the booking windows.
The variations at the top of the list.
1) A preference system given to individuals with more points.. consisting of a longer booking window depending on number of points. The only points that would be eligible are the ones purchased directly from Disney or "grandfathered" in
2) Longer booking windows on the home resort that is bought directly from DVC
3) Longer booking windows in the non-home resorts when points are bought directly.
4) "Locking" the older resorts so that they cannot book in the "new" resorts at all or only with the last 60 days. ie.. people who bought resale in OKW could not book at BLT, SSR-THV, AKV and Aulani and all future resorts except in the last 60 days.
I think waiting to purchase - either by resale or direct - until you know what any program might entail is not worthwhile and waiting based on unsubstantiated internet rumors and speculation is absolutely foolish.
I agree with regard to RESALE. In fact, if you believe existing resale contracts would be "grandfathered in" as many believe, you might be better off buying resale now, rather than waiting. At the DVC Annual Meeting a month ago, DVC President Jim Lewis alluded to a "tiered loyalty program" that would be announced. No information about the program was released then or since by DVC.

I would think any changes to the program would be a "from this point forward" type thing that would apply to purchases after the proposed change...if you wait to purchase, you may be subject to new restrictions.
However, don't jump in and buy based on speculation...if you are financially able and know DVC is a good fit for your family, go for it!
