I have BLT with March use year. I’m going to buy Into Poly Tower. Should I get March use year so they sync?

If I’m booking a vacation and am short on points can I transfer points between the two? Thanks

It depends on your travel preference, if you ever want to combine points at the 7 month window, stick with a March UY, then you don't have to transfer points.

If you are going to book them separately all the time, it doesn't matter as much. Also, if you always book them separately, you may even want a different UY if you have specific times of the year you are going to stay at each.

All four of my resorts are the same UY, because I frequently combine the points together and book at the 7 month window. No transfer necessary, I just select which contract(s) I want to use the points from to book the reservation. If you have separate UYs and want to make a single reservation, you have to call MS and do a transfer (and may even need to call to make the reservation as well - it's a little more complicated).

Planning to use both resorts (points) on same trip or separate trips?

We have 3 UYs. 2 hold small contracts with specific uses. 1 has the bulk (500) of our points spread across 4 resorts. I like that they can work solo or together. If your UY benefits your travel pattern, I’d stick with March.

For a majority of trips yes we would use both contracts for the whole family
In that case, keep the same UY. Makes booking MUCH easier. No transfer needed, just check off which contract to use.

Transfers are required between memberships, which are contracts with different UY and/or owners. One membership can hold multiple contracts.

Definitely keep the same UY. While DVC is allowing owners the chance to transfer between their memberships multiple times vs just once, nothing prevents them from changing those rules..

While we have three UYS, we pretty much use them on their own and don’t transfer, even if we borrow when points exist elsewhere. Just cleaner for us.

The only reason I’d pick different UY is if expecting to book Poly points in the MAR UY banking window more often than not.

Unless the plan is regularly staying Nov-Feb, I’d definitely match UY.

It’s one of the advantages of buying direct too. Resale can be a pain trying to find the right contract/size/UY. Sometimes means passing up better deals to get closer to what you want. Direct is made to order. If you want 110pts in March UY, fine. Their default is to match your existing UY. No fuss. No searching. Just choosing which incentive round and how many points works best for you.

I'll second what others have said. Line up your UYs with traveling patterns. We initially chose March UY (610 points) because we would travel frequently for spring break and summer when kids were out of school and that worked out best with Banking Windows. When we decided to start going for Christmastime (Early November to Early December) we added 170 point October contract specifically for those trips where we will typically use those points for those late fall trips. And yes you can transfer points between your contracts but that is only once each UY and you need to call to use the transferred points.

Can I ask why Poly and BLT? Poly is not that hard now to get at 7 months other than peak. Is this to add direct points ?
