Hi everyone, first post here.
Planning on going to DL in Sept. and am wanting to buy parkhopper tickets on Ebay for cheaper than at the gate. Anyone have any esperience with doing this? The prices are really good and being on a bit of a budget it would work wonders. Any info is appreciated.

I wouldn't do it. You have no idea if they are good, unused tickets.

Have you checked out getawaytoday.com? You can buy tickets there without buying a package, and they tend to have good prices. And if it's a 3 day or more ticket, you get two days of Magic Morning with the tickets. Use the code "podcast" to get $10 off, which eliminates the shipping/handling cost.

I wouldn't do it either. Disneyland usually has an expiration window somewhere around 7-14 days after the first day the ticket is used. If it isn't used by then, then it expires and is no longer good.

I recommend only buying Disney park tickets through certified, reputable vendors, and ebay is a gamble, especially for "cheap" park tickets, which may or may not be good. I saw a lot of people with getaway today lanyards, Disney travel package lanyards, and/or Costco travel package lanyards in Disneyland, so I would go with one of them.

I also wouldn't do it, too risky. My MIL was going to do this last month. The guy was supposed to meet them at the gates with the tickets, and then meet them again in the evening of their last day in the parks. Because he needed to have them back. I found the whole thing odd and encouraged her to buy them elsewhere, in a more safe way.

I wouldn't do it either. It is just way too easy to get scammed that way I would think. There's no way to actually check to see how many days are left... I'd rather just pay full price for the security.

I wouldn't do it either. My sister would though, and she did! I couldn't believe she took the risk, but everything worked out fine. If you do decide to do it then I would strongly recommend that you don't buy a ticket where the seller asks you to give it back at the end of the trip...that's just shady.

It’s very shady. They do this because they buy, say a 7 day park hopper, and sell them to 7 different people on a different day each, and charge them a little less than a 1 day PH so the seller is still making out.

I know there are some people on ebay who are legitimately selling tickets that they had and they couldn’t use for whatever reason, but are not selling them to make a profit.

To the OP, I would just stick with getawaytoday or just pay full price through Disney. I wouldn’t risk it.

Not only shady, but illegal as far as Disney is concerned, since they say their tickets are non-transferable.

I agree with everyone here who says that it is better to get tickets through legitimate means.

Yes, illegal too! How could I forget that?

Okay, okay....I have done it twice with no problems. I buy and sell on eBay often and have never had a problem. Just don't be ignorant. Ask questions if you have doubts, make sure they have good feedback (particularly regarding ticket sales), and bid with confidence. Check into the PayPal insurance package that covers up to $200 for anything shady. It's your call. I have done it and would do it again.

Getaway today and pre-purchase through Disneyland dot com have 3 day hoppers both listed at $169 - so I don't get the discount :confused3

If I were visiting Universal, I would look into getting a City Pass. It includes a 3 day hopper + Universal + Sea World and I think the zoo, and you can get it at our Costco for $217.

I did it no problems with mine you can tell which ones are good or if people are out to make a steal look at the feedback.

Get Away Today includes 2 MM, that is why people like to go through them. Yes, they are the same price as the advance purchase on disneyland.com

If you are considering buying from those that buy multiday passes then sell on individual days at great profit then no as that would be dishonest. I am sure you wouldn't consider shoplifting from a Disney store so please don't consider this. If however it is a legitimate source or someone with genuine reason for having to sell then go ahead but it is still risky, you could be sold dud tickets...

I have sold tix on ebay but never bought any. I bought new tx on Craigslist once, had zero problems. This is what I tell anyone wanting to do this. Just SELL some stuff on ebay and BUY your own tickets. My friend has done it tons of times and never had any problems, I'm too much of a control freak to risk it personally.
