Current home resort VGF, but we are considering buying more pts and would like to know whether it would be best to buy more at current resort or buy at secondary resort? Due to pt values at VGF with what we own it limits us to studio unless we borrow from the next year. We have not stayed here yet and honestly don't know whether it is worth the pt price vs the pt price of other resorts we have stayed at. I know it is a beautiful resort and you are directly access able to the monorail which is a major plus, we also understand that if we do buy more pts that if they are not VGF we cannot use them with our current pts if we want to book in at 11 months for larger accomadations. Would value any opinions. Thank you.

Buy where you want to stay. Do you have a resort you prefer? If not, I'd go with a cheaper resale, try it out a few years and figure out which one you like. If you don't plan to use your VGF points at VGF, you're better off buying a cheaper resale.

If you buy at another resort, you can bank/borrow from your VGF contract every other year and use the other resort the rest of the time. Or you can do split stays. We have a small VGF contract. I usually book a few nights at VGF, then move to Epcot.

I also think you should buy where you want to stay.

When we bought, we got SSRS because it had the longer contract. If I had it to do over again, I would buy at Animal Kingdom. That is by far MY favorite resort.

My personal second choice would be BLT.

You will have a more satisfying, less stressful ownership if you:

  • Buy where you love to stay.
  • Book at 11 months.
  • Buy enough points to stay in your preferred size room and category.
If you don't have the knowledge yet to decide on the above, it's like buying a car without seeing it first or taking a test drive.

We originally bought at BWV and as we add on we keep buying more BW points. However we have stayed at other resorts (OKW, AKL, VB) and visited several others just to make sure tat we were doing the right things for us. Everyone has different ideas of what they like so the best advice is to try a few places and decide what you like best. Another thing to consider is that some of the places (GF, BW, BC) are rented out more easily and for more money then others. Take a look at the Rent Trade board and consider factoring that in. We use to go twice a year and now that we have dialed it back a bit, the ability to easily rent the BW points is a plus for us. Have Fun deciding!

We own 3 different venues and enjoy having the ability to reserve during the 8 thru 11 month period that we shut out of in our non-homes. After the 1st four years and having tried out all the venues we started to get picky.:flower3:

We did not buy where we like to stay because we never book more then 7 months out. If the wife did then her choice is always BW. We bought at SSR and Im waiting for the contract to double out points. Since we never book farther out then 6 months I took the least expensive overall resort, and I love the resort.
You have to know your travel habits and adjust according .

We are also VGF owners..
Upon buying our VGF, we really thought about how much we would like to stay there.
Why we love the GF, we know there are other resorts we want to try..

So we bought 120 Points at AKL..
This give us a chance to try a different resort every other year, and get a bigger room at VGF on the other years..
Or do a spilt stay if we choose.

Example.. Take the value season at VGF you need a 125 VGF points for a studio for the week
banked those points into next year gives you 250 - that's enough for a one bedroom during the same time
(We bought in at 150 but it works the same)

Now on the off years..

We have 120 AKL points
If we bank the year we use our VGF the next year we have 240
That's enough for a one bedroom at many of the resorts, during any season but premier ( which we normally don't travel)

Not only did it save us money, but we also got our beloved VGF..
Also you don't waste you premium $145-$165 PP direct VGF points on other resorts which you could get with $70 PP.
