We now have 250 points with a use year of October at BCV.

We are finding we need more points to meet the families vacation needs.

We would like to be able to get into a resort where there are 3 bedrooms or the Treehouses at SSR.

How important is it that what we add on is in the use year month?

Is it really completely inconvenient to have two use years and thus if I understand it right, membership numbers?:confused3

What resorts do you recommend we look into?

if you add-on through DVC, your only option is to get the same UY month that you already have.

if you buy a new master contract of 160 pts, you can request a different UY month.

IMO, yes. but if you're organized and don't mind keeping up with it, it's probably no big deal.

keep in mind that if you buy into a different resort, your BCV pts cannot be used to book there until the 7 month window.

if you think you'd really like the treehouses at SSR, you can find some good deals on resale contracts. whether or not you get one with the same UY month would be up to you...

ooooooooh! I hadn't understood THAT before!
So, if you own at 2 different resorts the 11 month lead doesn't apply if you are combining points to stay at either?!!!

This could really change my purchasing plans!:sad2::sad2:

Transfered points maintain their original use year and home resort advantage. HTH

Although I love the Disney incentives, after adding on 3x, with Disney and with the Time Share store, I personally think it is better to buy at the same resort and the same use year. When you go to make that "Big" reservation, you can not if points are at different resorts or different use years. If you buy a resale, look for an incentive such as banked points and also make an offer that is less than what it is advertised for. It is a painless process and worth the savings and conveinece of uniformity. Hope this helps.:flower3:

Thanks for the info!!!
I was going to buy a small amount at 2 different resorts to get home advantage and would probably have to purchase points to add on to make the amount I needed...and planning on alternate year use....
based on input , I'm going to have to rethink this.

If you have 2 different contracts cn you get a transfer in to each contract? or because its 1 owner only 1 transfer per year?

Only you can decide what options will work best for you and your family. I would never buy into a resort based upon room size. Your requirements may change and now you own at a resort that isn't your favorite.

I read a thread where a member bought additional contracts because her family loved Disney just like she did. A year latter she was selling because her teen aged sons didn't like going on vacation with Mom and Dad anymore, and her husband wanted to buy a RV.

Seasoned members spend much more time at the resorts and the theming and resort amenities become much more important as time goes on.

Buy where you love to stay and use banking and borrowing to maximize your ability to reserve the size and types of rooms that work best for you and your family.

I don't quite understand the transfer of points thing. Can someone explain that to me? :confused3

We normally have a large family grouping at least once a year. This past December we ended up at SSR with two 2 bedrooms but they were not located close to one another and that really interfered with our getting together.

We looked at the dollhouse mock up of the tree houses and we all thought those looked interesting.

We have found so far that we have eaten up all the points we have way too quickly so we really think we need more but we want to make it as easy as possible plus stay somewhere that can comfortably accommodate many of us when necessary.

I did not understand the added points in different resorts and use year thing until we thought about buying more. I am working on getting it all straight in my mind! :lmao:
