Hi all,

I bought 2 "link it later" magicbands on Ebay, the seller had good ratings & they came sealed. Then I read somewhere you can still have problems with ebay magicbands that are sealed ...yikes, i'm a little worried! :guilty:

Also, 1 style I bought is only a few months old (The Jungle Book) , and the other style I bought was a style that I think came out , maybe 2 years ago; this one;

And I also just found out that the battery life of magicbands are about 2 years. I'm wondering if the Nemo/Dory one I bought will even work - unless they meant 2 years of battery life after I start using them :confused3

I paid $27.00 per magic band, i'm hoping I won't have any problems with them.:(

Has anyone else had problems with ones bought from Ebay / or one that was a few years old when bought?

Thanks for any feedback, Marina

If they were purchased in the “link it later” mode and not stolen, they will work for park entry and FP lines as the touchpoints are able to read the RFID info in each band.

If the long-range battery is dead, the only thing you won’t get are the ride photos and videos automatically linked to your MDX. It’s always best to stop by the ride photos and tap your MB to ensure your photos link up.

Thanks so much Hiro, if the long-range battery is dead, will it still work for photopass pictures (when you do a magic shot with a photographer?) and also buying things at the stores/paying meal bills and opening your hotel door?

It will work for anything were you physically need to touch the MagicBand to a reader. That includes manual PhotoPass linking, park entry, FP+ queue entry, room entry, room charges, dining plan, etc.

Thanks for the info! :cutie:

Some rides though do not have tap points at all. It seems that the newer ones don't, like 7DMT and Frozen. Those would definitely be missed.

That’s always been the question for me since MBs were announced. Is it x years of normal use? Is it x calendar years even if you’ve never used them?

I don’t think they know either (meaning Disney).

So. Aybe they’ll work for the long range stuff and maybe they won’t. Go on a ride early that links photos from afar and see if it links. Then you’ll know.

Batteries of all kinds lose their charge over time whether in use or not, but magic bands are "active" RFID devices, which means they are always broadcasting a signal. So it doesn't matter whether you're going to Disney 3x a week all year or you go every other year, the active signal is "always on" and draining the battery.

You won't get the personalized greeting at the end of Small World, either. :)

Does that even happen anymore. We were just there two weeks and not once did the end of small world have anything other than goodbye in other languages on those screens.

If your staying onsite - (you mentioned charging and room access) you will get new MB's with your resort stay. If you bring one of the new bands with you or someone in your party chooses to wear one you will then get all the long range photo's and videos.

The old bands will work for just about everything except the non "touchpoint" access photos and videos.

Or just carry a new band along, if you get new ones for staying onsite.

Probably not the case here, but MDX goes a little weird if you have more than 10 active bands on your own account (10 each, not 10 for the entire group I think)
