OK. We are not hard core alcoholics, :littleangel::little angel: but my husband and I are celebrating our 30th by coming to WDW and then cruising on the Fantasy in May. We are flying from Oregon to Orlando. Staying at Old Key West and would like a few drinks in our room and want to take a couple bottles with us on the cruise, too.

Is there anywhere downtown Disney to buy liquor? or a liquor store close by to walk too?

If we took a town car from airport, could stopping at a liquor store be possible instead of grocery? Was thinking of doing magical express from airport to resort and then a town car to port and back to airport, but could add the extra transfer I guess.

I would also like a special bottle of champagne for our cruise, so that and whiskey for the hubby and tequila for me:thumbsup2 would be what we are looking for.

Try Goodings, a grocery with a Liquor(Package) Store. There may be some Sunday restrictions...

Put the following in maps.google.com:
28.383198, -81.503234

It's a short hike down Hotel Plaza Blvd.

Prices for Goodings groceries are high compared to Publix. Liquor will be cheaper there than anything at hotels or on property. Although I heard Vodka can be purchased, a lot cheaper than sweaters, in Norway, Epcot. Shaken not stirred.

WeGoShop (a grocery delivery service in Orlando) will deliver hard liquor.

This! It's right next to a nice Winn Dixie also, in case you want provisions too.

Thanks so much! I will check all these out.

The car service we use from airport allows for a 15 minute stop before arriving at Disney World. Publix is the large supermarket. Ask your driver for the Publix that has the liquor store next door (the one closest to Disney does not have liquor).

Happy 30th. :)

And another +1 for ABC liquors. They had a sale the day we stopped, on Spumonte sparkling wine and DH bought 6!

I know that Old Key West keeps a selection of hard liquor behind the counter located in the "grocery" portion of Conch Flats. I'm sure Disney sells them at crazy high prices for the small bottles that they are.

Just a suggestion if things change and you can't hit the liquor store :goodvibes

P.S. OKW is our home DVC resort and I've spent so much time in there that I can tell you that they do have tequila ;)

We tote a bottle of vodka in our checked baggage every trip down, no problems in 15 trips.

This is our go to place for booze at Disney

Thanks for the well wishes on our anniversary. Its a day to day crap shoot, marriage:lovestruc.

Anyway, a friend at work suggested bottle wraps and taking our favorites from home in our checked luggage. Says she does every vacation. Researching this option. Would save a bunch of money, for sure.

Anyone have trouble doing this? TSA won't steal my booze, right? Or arrest me for smuggling booze over state lines?:scared1:

Add me to the ABC fan club. It's the place to go for sure, but a little out of the way unless you have your own car.

Disney resorts do sell most of the basics in 375ml versions, for which you will pay the 750ml prices you pay at home. That's not horrible---beer is more expensive, relatively speaking, but wine is better. And, you can sometimes find interesting things in the World Showcase pavilions.

I'm not a big fan of checking liquor in my bag. It probably won't break, but it *could*, and if it does that's a big mess.

I know it is OK to take liquor on flights and there are TSA rules you must follow but I don't know the particulars. I occasionally get on a forum for bourbon (I swear there is a forum for everything :thumbsup2) and have read numerous times where people have transported bottles of bourbon via flight with no problems. But there are bottle or weight limits and I think there is a certain way they must be stored but I don't know for sure.

I have never been on a cruise but always heard they dont allow BYOB. That they even check when scanning luggage. Their way of making money. Not sure if true.

We are taking our liquor with us in our suitcases. The airlines do have restrictions on transporting hard alcohol -- there is a limit per person and also it has to be packaged well in your suitcase so read about it regarding your specific airline. You can not carry it on the plane.

Another possibility wegoshop (the grocery delivery service) will deliver alcohol to your room you just have to show ID to prove you are of the right age. Garden Grocer delivers beer, wine, and coolers but not hard alcohol.

First of all, I strongly suggest bringing your own booze on the flight in checked bags. Put in plastic grocery bags in case of spill, wrap well in T-shirts, keep away from things you don't want to get wet: suits, dress shoes, etc...
Secondly, if you can, find plastic booze bottles. Not sure all the major liquors have these, but I know most do.

Third, DCL totally allows BYOB, however it has to be in your carryon. This will require repacking once you get to OKW.

That is pretty much what my friend said. She uses the wine bottle wraps and then wraps clothes around each. I think it would work. But the plastic sounds smart! Maybe tape it in plastic so if it leaks or something, it would be contained.
Maybe a layer of bubble wrap?:scratchin
