Buying gift cards?

Maybe a silly question but I'm gonna ask anyways..

Can Disney gift cards be bought online and sent to Canada? I know we can't buy the gift cards at the Disney store here and use them in the US but can we buy cards that *can* be used in the States?

I read over the FAQ on Disney's gift card page and couldn't find what I was looking for...maybe I just missed it?

Anyone know?

I'd be interested to know too. I wonder if they'd charge shipping & handling if the do ship.
I usually just put money aside, and buy a GC when we get to WDW. Rather then carry cash around, I use the GC for dining tips & suvies. I don't carry my wallet around, just a small cross body that my camera & cell phone fit in, plus a few cards.

They will NOT ship gift cards to Canada.
They will take your money and then cancel your order (you do eventually get your money back but will take the exchange hit!)

I'm not sure when the last time you tried to order cards, but my father ordered a couple of gift cards as Christmas gifts for DH and I this year and they not only arrived, but they were pretty speedy as well! He's in Ontario and I'm in BC.

Nothing in the FAQ nor in the terms and conditions says that you can't purchase the cards if you aren't in the US!

I know that when I tried to order some gift cards last year about this time it was impossible. I even called and asked and was told that they had a problem with too many cards disappearing over the border. However, my husband was just reading something on the Disney Store site that detailed shipping and handling ($25, I believe but not sure since I wasn't listening too well) to Canada. So it looks like their policy may have changed.

Hmmm, $25 is quite a hit, plus exchange rate. I think I'll just wait like usual and buy them when I get there.

The Disney Store really doesn't want Canadian customers very much. I tried everything I could think of to get gift cards last year. After i couldn't get the cards sent to Canada I tried to get the cards sent to our resort - nope, because my credit card was Canadian and my American funds card was still with a Canadian bank. Then I tried purchasing them with Paypal (which they do accept) since I have an Etsy shop and my Paypal is US funds and the money in that account stays in the US until I transfer it to my bank - still nope, because The Paypal account was still registered to a Canadian.

I think I heard somewhere that it all goes back to 9/11. The US banking laws were all changed after that so that it would be more difficult to launder money. I have trouble keeping the underwear laundered, let alone money.

Argh. I was afraid of that. Looking for a way to help the kids budget and save for our trip in July. Guess I'll be buying cards when we get down to California, then.
