I have been reading about Disney's Vacation Club for a while now. And, from the Disney site, I wanted to order the information kit but they don't ship to Quebec. Are people from this province able to buy into DVC?

Thank you!:)

I know that here in Manitoba we cannot buy DVC directly from Disney while at home, we have to be in Florida to complete the transaction.

However, you can buy DVC from home through a reseller like the one that sponsers the DVC forum here on the DIS.

This is what I did (twice actually) and I saved thousands (!) over the price that I would have paid if I had bought directly from Disney!

Do lots of research! The DVC forum on the DIS is a treasure trove of info.

Also, I would plan out the next 5 years of vacation to see how many points you might need. If you have kids, your vacation times may fluctuate as they get older. My 15 year old can only miss a day or two at most at a time but my 8 year old is still able to catch up if she misses more. so right now we are using points like crazy in order to stay during the busier times of year ( like xmas break)

Good luck!!
Best thing we ever did:goodvibes

Thank you for your answer. I will start looking into DVC here on the boards. We are only 2 adults, and usually go in May or September. I know those are not peak times, and we usually go for a whole week.

I'll start reading now! :)

Thanks again!

Hi MellieluvsDisney, I'm from Quebec too. If you want a guide, you can buy the PassPorters DVC guide. It's very not expensive and you can find a lot of information about DVC.

As you read above, DVC isn't allowed to sell in Quebec (and most other provinces) but they can sell to people living in Quebec. They just can't approach you, or contact you while you are in physically here.

I purchased while on vacation in 2008 and recently added on a few weeks ago. Both had to be done while outside of Quebec. But I have no trouble owning, paying my dues, or getting my point charts mailed to me.

You might want to look at the resale aspect as well.

Hi MtlFire, did you buy to a reseller or directly to Disney?

A direct 200 point purchase and a 25 point addon direct from Disney. When I originally purchased I had no idea about resale, and the recent addon was simply because its impossible to find small contracts resale and Disney allows you to put it on a credit card.

If I was to addon anything larger, I'd seriously consider resale for the cost savings since the new limitations don't really affect my travel plans. From a value position you're shouldn't be using your points at anything but a DVC resort to begin with -- cruising or staying at a non disney DVC resort is a poor return on value to begin with.

I also purchased and added on at SSR. I don't use the 11 month booking window, so I'm not a big fan of the buy where you want to stay club. I've never stayed at SSR (other than the Treehouse Villas one year) so it made more sense to pay 99$ a point at SSR than 120$ at AKV -- I've never had a problem staying at AKV and saved 20$ a point.
