Be warned, if you order your currency at a sub post office, you either have to pay in cash, or cheque. They will not accept Debit or credit cards. Plus if u pay by cheque you can only write them out up to your cheque guarentee limit, i.e if your limit is £200 and you want £2000 worth of currency, you have to write out 10 cheques!

The adverts in the post office, and the forms they give you to fill in give a long list of ways to pay, but do not mention that they are only applicable to main post offices. I found this out the hard way this morning and am not happy, particularly since they didnt mention any of this to me on Saturday when I went in and asked for a form to order American currency and asked about exchange rates etc.

I've ordered my currency from the PO & paid by debit card at my local subpost office - no queries, no questions. This was just a couple of months ago, but I suppose they may have changed their policy. Afterall, this is the PO that managed to order hard dollars when I requested TCs!

I ordered some $$ in June from the main PO in our town and I had to have cash.

Yes I encountered this problem a couple of years ago, our village PO didn't take switch & still doesn't.

This year I went to our nearest town & it was fine at the main PO there.

b ut I do think there should be a notice poste d to let people knoe=w this as I'd no idea til it happened to me.

IT IS WORTH NOTING ALSO THAT ALTHOUGH THEY OFFER COMM' FREE, THEY MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE IN THE RATES WHICH IN MY EXPERIECE ARE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER TO THE BANKS.

I AM A BANK MANAGER AND WE OFFER COM FREE TO SOME OF OUR CUSTOMERS AND THE BANK RATES ARE MUCH BETTER. IT IS WORTH CHECKING WITH THE BANKS AS YOUMAY GET A BETTER DEAL EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO PAY COMM, AND YOU CAN DO THIS EASILY USUALLY BY PAYING CASH OR DEBITING YOUR ACCOUNT OR USING YOUR CCARD IF NECESARRY!

HOPE THIS HELPS.

I have never found anyone to beat Travelex on rates, ever. If you order over the internet you pay no commission either, cash and/or travellers cheques.

I made 3 cents on the dollar when I went to WDW in August, compared to the next best rate.

Collect your dosh on the day you fly at almost every UK airport.

Easy peasy!
