Buying cigarettes

I am going on a "family" vacation with my inlaws, both my sister in laws and brother in law smoke, is there a place to buy cigarettes on the ship? I am trying to prepare them for the trip in 2 weeks. Thanks for any help!!

From what I have seen all the cigarettes sold on the ship were duty free and therefore couldn't be smoked on the actual ship as you didn't get them until the last day. You can buy them at port and carry them on. The also sell cigars in a few lounges. I'm not sure if single packs were for sale and now thinking about it the duty free cases may not have been on DCL but on a different cruise ship. They just tend to be a stable of the duty free shops.

Also make sure they are prepared for the smoking sections. Disney no longer allows smoking on your veranda and some of the smoking sections have hours. Not sure what ship you are sailing on but just in case here is the information for all.

Disney Magic and Disney Wonder

• Deck 4, outdoors, starboard side from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Deck 9, forward, portside, any time

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy

• Deck 4, port side, aft, on the outside Promenade Deck from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Deck 12, port side, aft, the outdoor area accessible through the Meridian Lounge at any time
• Deck 13, port side, forward, near Currents Bar, at any time

Pretty sure at the port they can just wait to go through security. I'm not 100% sure if there is a smoking section once past security or if they would need to leave the terminal smoke outside and then come back through security if they needed a smoke.

I could be wrong. But I seem to remember the bar on deck 13 near the smoking area on the Fantasy sold cigarettes.

I don't know what ship you are on, but I can answer for the Wonder. You can buy individual packs at the Cove Cafe and at Signals Bar. If you buy a carton at the duty free shop they will NOT hold them until the end of the cruise, you get them right then. I don't know why they are not treated the same as alcohol. I did not see any of the duty free stuff on our Alaska cruise a couple months ago because there was a special shop set up in the duty free shop area. The selection will be very limited however.

I just scrolled back and saw you will be on the Dream. Can't help you specifically there, but I bet you go into an adult area bar and they will have some.

They can buy cartons in the same store that sells alcohol and they will be allowed to smoke them on the ship. The outside viewing area at PC does have an ashtray. They may be unable to smoke immediately after boarding in the case they are still refueling the ship.

If you buy a carton at the duty free shop they will NOT hold them until the end of the cruise, you get them right then. I don't know why they are not treated the same as alcohol.

Two reasons:

1. They don't sell individual cigarettes at a large mark-up, so there's no cannibalization of revenue.

2. Unlike alcohol, they don't need to worry about guest safety such that servers know when to stop serving someone.

It has nothing to do with the items being duty free.

I seen to recall that on the Fantasy and Dream you can buy single packs at Currents on Deck 13

When on a port, there's usually refueling at one point and you can't smoke.

We bought cigarettes packs, I believe by cove cafe. The smoking areas really sucks on the dream. On the top deck absolutely no shade.

Meridian Bar (in between Palo and Remy) has a smoking area that is partially covered. There is access even when the bar is closed.

This is my favorite place to sit and read, have a drink (when the bar is open) and smoke my pipe. I can literally spend hours on the Meridian deck when at sea.

Bought a carton in Jan on the Fantasy, and was given them there and then.
Yes there are ash trays and people smoking out on the viewing area at PC , when you walk past the entry to go thru the ears, there was a door to go out on to the viewing deck where u could watch them load the ship .

There is a viewing area where you can see the ship and watch them loading the ship that is accessed by a door past the concierge waiting area in the terminal. I know people used to be able to smoke there. I do not know if that has changed as it has been about a year since we cruised.
