Buying AP just so I can purchase TIW?

If there is only a remote possability that my family will be returning within one year, am I crazy for considering buying an AP just to be able to purchase TIW?

Background: We are a family consiting of me, dh, three dds (ages 11, 9, 7). We were going to segment but....

Eating Habits: During our 9 night trip, we will probably eat at about 5 counter service lunches, 7 table service dinners. We eat bfast in the room. We do like cocktails (the adults that is ). We do tip, usually 20%. We like Disney restaurants because my dd has a food allergy that they are fantastic with! I checked and all of the restaurants we will eat at for dinner except TIW.

Last year we did the Dining Plan, but we do not normally eat the way it is designed so I am going to skip it this year. My DH and I often share apps and share counter service items. We rarely do dessert and we had way too many snack credits left over last year that we just wasted on lots of mickey Rice Krispy treats.

We usually purchase MYW tix from UT. Considering non expiring water park and more tix this time because we are going to the parks less now that we are members. I would be the one who would purchase the AP.

I would consider the difference inprice you'll pay between the AP and whatever ticket you decide upon as part of the cost of the TiW.

For instance, the difference bewteen a 7 day adult park hopper and a DVC AP is about $75. The TiW is also $75. Making your cost $150 for the TiW.

Then take that total and divide by .2. If your total TiW cost is $150, you would need to spend $750 on table service meals during your trip to break even.

So figure what your would most likely spend on TS food, then see if you're going to save anything by purchasing the TiW and an AP.

This is exactly correct and seeing as you have 7 table service dinners with 5 people at each of them my guess is you will easily reach the $750 amount where you would at least break even.

That may be a difficult deal to pull off, unless you buy several bottles of wine..

If you are talking about a NE MYW with Water parks.. Then you need a more expensive PAP to go to the Water parks.. Plus since you are planning to have those available credits on a future trip since it is NE) you also need to buy a more expensive ticket on those future trip(s)..

I'm thinking the better option is going with the NE MYW this trip, then plan a future year where your family can use a normal AP + your remaining NE WP options.

The AP for deals is not a bad idea, but the math has to work.
