I believe you can buy the AP at a discount rate, but to activate it you need to show your blue ID card and photo ID. If you don't have them, you will be charged the normal price. Just be ready to drop $200 per pass at the gate.

That’s correct. If you bought after April 2016 then you don’t qualiy for membership extra which includes the AP discount.

New members with only recent resale purchases are excluded, but there are still plenty of grandfathered resale owners who still get discounts.
