Has anyone ever purchased at a new resort and then sold their old resort?

We would love to buy into AKV :cool1: with the email special. Then sell our SSR. :yay: When we purchased I said I would love BCV or AK if it was a time share.

Then shortly after we purchased Aug 06 They announched AKV. Bummed for so long that I am considering the buy sell approach.

What are my odds of being able to sell? SSR has alot of resales. Would you recommend going throught Disney or Resale company.

How long is the turn around to sell?:confused3

When AKV sales to DVC members started, I purchased 150 pts from Disney with a DVC Loan, then put my 150 VWL points up for resale. Once the resale went through and I received payment, I paid off the loan.

you can sell but after commissions and losses on SSR, it may not be the best financial move. (you'd pretty much have to go resale BTW, disney "might" give you $55 per pt for SSR, but i doubt it.)

unless you have your heart set on staying in a concierge room or value room, i'd think getting into AKV at 7 months (assuming you're willing to waitlist, if it comes to that) won't generally be that difficult...

I do not own SSR.

You know how much you paid for SSR. If you sold it for $75 - 80 a point, would it be a huge loss to you? You have upcoming trips, if the contract sold, all of the trips would be cancelled.

People do seem to think that AKV will be large enough that you will be able to book in Kidani or Jambo at the 7 month level, except for concierge and value. I would wait..no, I would probably do a 100 pt add on to get the deal, see how it goes and eventually, probably sell the SSR. The current trips that I have booked would be the deterrent for me for selling now. I would accumulate the SSR points and try to sell a loaded contract for more money.

It's been done but I don't know how often. It's certainly talked about a lot more than it's done. Just look at the numbers. Say you sell at $75 a points, pay a commission of $7.50 per point and turn around and buy back in at $96 per point. Is it really worth it to pay almost $30 a point to swap home resorts. Or put another way, you could add on almost a third extra points for the same cost. You'd end up with higher fees but have more points. IMO, this only makes sense if you're downsizing significantly. That is our situation where we added 100 AKV points and are selling everything else. Down from a high or 885 to a 100 points within the next year or two.
