I just want to say what a help this board has been. My husband and I have finally decided to take the plunge. We have put an offer in for a bcv 100 point contract thru the Timeshare Store. My question is, if we decide to add on, can we add on directly through Disney? (even though we only have 100 points?)

Congratulations -- you can add points directly thru Disney. BCV is a sold-out resort so it is hit or miss when points become available thru DVC. You can put your name on a waiting list.

Once a member you can add on at any resort that you want to and you can add on with as little as 25 points but you have to pay cash or you can add on 50 and it can be financed through DVC if thats who you purchase through.

If you add on at a different resort, you will be able to book at that second resort 11 months out but you can only use the points you own at that second resort to do so.

Ex: You have 100 BCV points and add on 50 AKV points. At 11 months from your check-out date you would be able to use only the 50 AKV points to book at AKV and the 100 BCV points at BCV. You cannot use the AKV points at BCV (or the other way around) until you are within 7 months of your check out date. At 7 months out you can combine the AKV and BCV points to book at any DVC resort.

Many of us who own at more than one resort use banking (and/or borrowing) to stay at our second home every other year or every third year. For example, 7 nights in a 1BR at VWL in early December requires 200 points. If you wanted to do that every other year you could add on 100 points at VWL and bank your points every other year to get the 200 points you need to book that stay in the 11-month window.
