We have a big family trip coming up and want to bring some kids that may not be able to come in the end. If I buy them tickets and link them to MDE and they DON'T end up coming will I lose any value? We are DVC so if they didn't come I would ideally like to use the value of those tickets to apply to DVC gold passes next year. Any ticket experts know if I could do this and would anything have to be done in person? I wouldnt want to not be able to make fastpasses for next years trip because I was trying to upgrade this way :crazy2:

1. If I buy them tickets and link them to MDE and they DON'T end up coming will I lose any value?

1. Nope.
2. OK.
3. It is far simpler to do this in-person.
4. That's a consideration.
DURING the trip on which the other party did NOT use the ticket, go to a Guest Relations
and state that you wish to use that ticket's value on an upcoming AP renewal.
It is possible for GR to set up a "file" in your MDX account stating your intentions.
That way, it MIGHT be that you would be able to renew with that unused ticket, even if you were not present at WDW.
If they don't do that, you might have to be content with the loss of advance FP+
on that trip...
or just renewing the AP as usual (for full price) and continuing to KEEP that unused ticket until such time in the future that you can accomplish the upgrade, etc.
Still better than just losing the value of an unused ticket.

I thought once the unused ticket was transferred to eeyoresmoms account, they could at least make FP for the number of days on that ticket and then upgrade once they get to the park?

That is what I'm planning on doing for my annual pass this year when I go in August so I hope it works!

Yup. (Assuming the active date of the ticket matches the date of the trip.)

HOWEVER... that FP booking ceases to be possible once that ticket has "expired."
(Which is a major consideration with today's type of tickets, and the reason for the question.)
