My eldest DS wants a Nintendo Wii. If we buy it in the US, can it get "chipped" or something so that it will play UK games and work on UK televisions?

Thanks!

Why not just buy it here?
Are there any benefits of buying the US version?
Prices look very similar, and always chance of import duty if stopped.

wii like outher platform boxes are pal/nts thingy encoded so dont be tempted to buy one same with games for it.only the hand helds are ok gameboy

No point.:confused3

They are now widely available in the shops here.

£179 or thereabouts.

When they are in stock at John Lewis at £179 use code ELL851KJH587 and it knocks £20 off. They keep getting them in stock but soon sell out so you have to look often.

As others have said I really would advise against it. Buy it here and you'll get so much more out of it.

Thanks for the replies. He told me they were much cheaper in the USA, but seen as he is 8 years old I probably should have checked for myself first!

The base price might be slightly better but there is always sales tax to add and the things metioned above that go against buying over there and the plug would be different. Most electrical things can now be bought as cheap(and cheaper) here if you look around and not just buy from Dixons at full retail.

John Lewis have at least 10 in stock limited to 1 per customer, use code in post #5 and you should get it delivered for £159
