Hey everyone!

I'm looking to buy a lens for my z730 kodak digital. I've seen a couple on ebay for decent prices...my question is...is it worth it to buy a lens? and if so which kind? I believe I saw the 55mm and 37mm? and does it dramatically improve the pictures?

TIA :thumbsup2

I don't think your Kodak has the interchangeable lens capability. Even if it does (using bayonet mount system), it's not going to make the picture better, it's just going to change the field of view (maybe wider, maybe more powerful zoom).

Yes, you can use filters and lenses for your Kodak. First you need an adapter shown here... http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuer...ID=S16327&Visible=false&navCategory=EKN030483 (which you can find online for about $15.00), and then you can use a 37mm lens accessory. Many people use circular polarizer filters, (for improved outdoor shots), and some use telephoto, or wide angle lenses to improve range.

Be careful on ebay, as there are a whole lot of lenses available and not all brands are respected. I know many Kodak owners have the Retinar lenses available from Kodak (for WA or telephoto), and also Oly t-con.

You might want to try the dpreview Kodak forum for these kinds of questions. Very helpful Kodak bunch there.

Do you already own the Kodak? Because if you haven't, at that price, plus the bayonet (adapter) mount and a proper lens, you'll be able to get Canon S2IS which is better in every way than the Kodak.

or at least it has Image Stabilizer, 12x zoom, flipover LCD lens, clean ISO (yes, the Kodak failed even at ISO100) and non-proprietary AA batteries (so you can buy batteries just in case your recahrgeable batteries die at a crucial moment)

I repeat, try the DPreview Kodak forum.

I also repeat:

Of course, if you already own the camera, my argument is moot.

I DO own the camera, and yes I know there are other superior quality cameras out there, but I am truly happy with this one, it took fabulous pics of my last trip!! But thank you for the help Kelly!

Elizke -- Thanks so much, I had no idea I needed an adapter! and thanks for the link!!!

If you're happy with what you have. Hang on to it with your dear life. Nothing beats a camera when you already know the insides and outs of it.

The adapter that elizke had recommended in post #3 would be a great accessory for your camera. I had a similar one for my Canon S-20 (except it attached to the tripod mount) with 3 accessory lenses. One went wider (.67X) the other longer (2X). Another advantage is that you can add a polorizing filter to cut down glare in outdoor photos. :cool2:

You just want to make sure that the accessory glass is good quality and it may shadow part of the pictures when using a flash.
