We are looking for some assistance.

We are looking at the possibility of purchasing a property in Spain, either mainland or one of the islands.

Would have preferred USA but too much hassle and would not be able to live out there permanently without loads of cash.

Not really sure the best way to get started on the investigations etc.

Is there any one out there with any hints on how to get started ie websites, books etc.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

We are currently searching for a second home in the Algarve. We've been out there twice to have a look at some villas already but haven't had much luck yet.

We have had some help from some friends who have purchased out there and we will probably be using MoneyCorp (www.moneycorp.com) to provide a foreign exchange package for when we 'bite the bullet'. From the communications so far, they have been extremely helpful and if you visit the site I think there is a free guide that they will send you if you input your address.

We have also found the 'Which?' guide to purchasing property overseas extremely helpful for the legal aspects of purchasing abroad. I think you can get this from most bookstores, but we got it free from an agent though so you may be able to do the same.

Richard. :)
