Buying a car seat

Were going to buy a car seat when we get there but we are going to need to higher one from Dollar to get us from the Airport to the shops. If we do this are we able to drop the car seat off at the nearset Dollar and will we get a refund??

Also DD will be 3, will she be ok in a booster seat without a back

If your dd is 3, it depends on how heavy she is and how tall as to whether just a booster is okay.
This year ds is 4 and dd is 5, and we are still considering whether to take the back to ds's seat. He is tall and heavy enough, but it is still safer to have the back on.
I personally would get a cheap seat with a back you can remove later. It'll still be far cheaper than renting, say $40 or so. Or even buy a cheap one from Tesco for about £10, the back removes so it becomes just a booster is you want.

I can't remember the particular car company but I was so dissapointed with their rental seat that I went to Walmart and bought DD a seat to bring home to the UK. When I took the seat back to the rental company and explained that I didn't think their rental one was up to the job they gave me a full refund. You're not going to have any problems getting a refund if you return the carseat.

I've found the seats in the US were much better ( and cheaper) than the ones we get here, I'd probably try to buy a good one there that can be modified to fit her needs for a few more years when you come back to the UK.

we took advice from this forum last year, aug 03, and took our booster seat with us. our DDs were then 5 and 7 so only needed the 1. saved on hire costs and left it in the hotel room instead of packing it to bring it home-- cos the replacement cost here was less than the 2wks hire charge in florida. . . . .if your only using the "seat" and not the back it may be worth it for you too!!!
