I'd love to get a broom and wand at WWoHP, but had some questions...

I heard the wands don't fit very well in the lockers when you go on rides... Is there a way to avoid this? We were hoping to do Ollivander's first since we heard the line gets worst for that.

And brooms... I can only imagine how silly I'd look bringing that home. Do they come apart somehow to fit in luggage? How have people been transporting them?

Is there any other amazing merchandise I should be saving my galleons, sickles, and knuts for?

Dont know about the broom thing, but you can get them to send it and the wand to the front of the park so you dont have to carry it around all day.

See my post #260 in this thread

you can get the brooms from The Nobel Collection for about the same price:
http://www.noblecollection.com/catalog/catalog.cfm?catid=21 (skim down about half way for the brooms)

If you want character wands (not Olivander's exclusive wands) they come from Nobel Collection as well, but you can also find them on sale at www.wbshop.com every once in a while. Most of the wands seem to fit in the lockers if you aren't trying to stuff alot of other things in with it.

The long wait is to get into Ollivanders but the wands and brooms are sold at Dervish and Bange's and the Owl Post. You can do the Ollivander show right away and then go and ride your rides. Then come back and purchase your broom and wands at Dervish and Bange's and the Owl Post which are in the same store.

Thanks for all the replies! I think we will do Ollivander's first and buy our wands, then go for FJ and hope they fit in to the lockers... I was worried they wouldn't fit but other people seem to be saying its ok now.

Ollivander's is just a show, you purchase your wands at Owl Post, which you can access from Dervish and Banges by waiting in a much shorter line. I would do the show first and save the purchasing for later.

The brooms do not come apart, we had told DD NO BROOM and then let her go off with Grandma.....bad idea ;) She came back with a wand and a broom of course.

She had to carry on the broom when we flew back to Kansas, I was surprised to not see more of them and the security people thought it was reallly neat :)

Edit: BTW the broom she got was the plastic one for kids that lights up....they did not have any of the other ones in stock only on display.

How long have the lines been at Dervish and Banges to get a wand?

Much shorter than Ollivanders. The line gets longer as they day goes on, but we waited 5 minutes one time and 20 minutes the other time. Ollivander's lines were always at least 30-120 minutes.

The $300 brooms come in a huge box and are unassembled. THe box is pretty big and VERY heavy. I would estimate about 40 pounds at least.

I wonder how quickly they restock wands because the only wand they had left was Draco Malfoy's.

They had non character wands and glowing wands left while I was there.

At $300, I hope that assembling doesn't mean attaching all the bristles to the broom itself.:)

LOL!! No. The handle attaches to the bristles part and then there is a 2 part attachment for where your feet would go.
