Buyer's Remorse

What degree of buyer's remorse did you experience when you first bought into DVC?

  • High Degree--really had to convince ourselves this was the right decision.

  • Low Degree--felt pretty certain DVC was for us, but still had 1 or 2 nagging concerns.

  • No Remorse--knew 100% from the minute we bought this was the right decision.

  • Only remorse was that we should have bought sooner!!!!!

How many of you, whether you still own or not, actually felt some degree of buyer's remorse after signing your closing documents?

I'm a No Remorse vote.

fool that i may be.....but, the 3rd time around i have only wished that i had done it a long time ago. by third time i mean that we now have 3 dvc homes to love and enjoy.:goodvibes

we love dvc and hope to own as long as possible. ::yes::

it is so strange that you really do begin to feel at home the moment you arrive for the first time. that is a feeling that makes your vacation much more pleasant.:thumbsup2

The only remorse I have, is that we didnt buy sooner, when we first heard about it. Could`ve had lots of points by now. Won`t pay $112 p/p though. I`d add on resale.

Should have bought sooner, but in reality we bought when it was the right priority for us.

I voted low remorse, though I think it was just temporary panic at having spent so much money more than real buyers' remorse. I was just a little worried about whether or not we had made the right choice. Now I love my DVC and am hoping to add on more points in a few years. It was the right choice for us, but it did make me concerned at first.

I voted 1 or 2 nagging concerns, because it was a big purchase & I still wasn't sure if yearly maintenance fees were worth it, would we have trouble getting rooms, would we have too many points, did we want to rent out points?

But once we stayed DVC a couple of times in a 1BR, we realized that going back to a regular hotel room would be really tough, when I see what a villa would cost even at a discount, maintenance fees don't seem so bad anymore. We love SSR so we just book at our home at 11 months during peak times & for the summer, we have no trouble getting a room elsewhere at 7 months. We do fine on the 2-150 point contracts we bought (sometimes banking a few & sometimes borrowing), renting out our points is a hassle we don't need or want to deal with.

Now I wish we bought sooner! :goodvibes

When we bought in Sept 07, we knew it was right for us and the only question we had was......when something sounds too good to be true, there must be a catch. Well for us, it was absolutely right, and we still haven't found the catch. Although with the economy taking a turn etc, it has left us tighter for cash than we would have liked, we do not regret it for a second. Our priorities are, house, job and then the magic. After working hard all year it is our one indulgence that makes all the hard work worth while!!pixiedust:

We wish we had bought at least one of our contracts sooner.

The closest thing we have had to buyer's remorse has been wondering if we really should have bought two contracts last year. Between our fears about the economy and the expenses associated with adoption, buying two contracts last fall doesn't always seem like it was the smartest use of our money right now. On the other hand, we've already taken one vacation on our points and we have two more planned for this year. We're going to get three vacations of 5 or 6 days at WDW this year, when otherwise, we'd probably only have taken a single vacation. Having the DVC and the annual passes (the DVC discount finally made it worth our money to get the passes), plus the TiW (which we were finally able to get because we'd bought the APs) has made WDW the vacation that most makes sense to us in troubled economic times. We're having trouble explaining to our friends how one of the most expensive vacations in the world is suddenly one of the cheapest :-)

Absolutely no remorse here! We were completely confident from the get go. We knew with 100% certainty that DVC was for right for us.

It wasn't even temporary panic for us. I just know my nature, and was a little afraid that after I pulled the trigger, I wouldn't enjoy WDW anymore.

I was afraid it would be like that gym membership.

Wow! We enjoy WDW more now than ever!!! Now, we just go to enjoy ourselves. It is wonderful.

I also wish we bought sooner....We first looked at DVC 10 years ago on our honeymoon....Not knowing what will bring married life, we opted to wait. Since then my wife lost her job, went to school and changed professions. So, if we bought back then, we may have lost it. Now, we're under better circumstances.....but, it would have been nice to have it all paid off by now.

We had no buyers remorse. We had looked at DVC initially in '96, 7 years before we actually bought in. We used those 7 years wisely, we travelled to wonderful places and enjoyed all the traveling while we could. When we bought into DVC for my DM's 85th birthday party, we were ready to settle down so to speak. Our DGC were then born and we've added on accordingly. :goodvibes

No remorse here. I agonized for three months to buy in the first place. :confused3Got the books out, calculated points, did long-term "savings" spread-sheets, etc. Lost a lot of nights of sleep trying to figure it all out. Talked to my sales rep (no longer with Disney) for hours (no exaggeration!!). Thanks to the DIS Boards I often knew more than he did.:thumbsup2 I just didn't want it to be an impulse buy.

Well, when I decided to buy, that was it! AND THOUGH THIS WHOLE THING IS COSTING ME THOUSANDS MORE EACH YEAR THAN WHAT I WOULD HAVE SPENT WITHOUT DVC :scared1:(I was not a Disney regular until after my DVC purchase - now 16 nights a year in two 8 night trips), I have NEVER REGRETTED MY DECISION TO BUY. It is absolutly wonderful going to Disney! Had I never bought, my last trip to Disney would have been in 2005. So sad for me. I wouldn't have known what I was missing.

I REALLY LIKE MY DVC!!!!!:cool1::banana::yay::woohoo::dance3:

No remorse, just wish like alot of others that we had bought sooner. Oh well, better late than never! :thumbsup2
