We had a light berber before we got our "coffee with milk" carpet- and it stained so horribly- I hated it.
Every little thing: mud, puppy accidents, cat vomit, me spilling coke- showed up like big nasty neon signs that said "WE"RE FILTHY." We're really not bad- just.... active. And clumsy. And I don't even have a kid yet. I spent so much time on my hands and knees scrubbing that stupid carpet.
I love my plush new brown carpet. It really does sort of fade into the backround, and I have to vacuum a LOT, but it's worth it.
