I know every now and then you can find an opportunity to purchase a contract at one of the older resorts that is no longer for sale through DVC. If DVC had points from VWL to sell, what would be the approximate price/pt? I cannot imagine it would be the same as SSR, BLT or AKV since VWLs end sooner. Any ideas? Why through DVC instead of TTS? Because I almost never see smaller contracts for VWL at TTS.

I just bought them for $75 dollars resale for a 170 point contract.

you just have to be patient (and make sure you are on the email list for new contracts that are available). i've seen a few over the last couple of months but they weren't what i was looking for.

if you wait till the smaller contracts are listed on the website, they will be listed as "sale pending." get on the email list.

Thanks. That's good to know.

I heard that:

(a) If you get an e-mail from the Timeshare Store, it will match what is posted on the website (so it won't really give you a jump on anyone else),

(b) Thousands of people are on that e-mail list, and

(c) you can call the Timeshare Store and tell them to be on the lookout for the type of contract you want.

I don't think that the e-mails & website match for TSS listings. The BCV contract that we are in the process of buying didn't make it to the website until a few days after we had made the offer. It was listed as "sale pending" when it finally got there. I think contacting them to let them know what you're looking for would be the best strategy, followed by being on their e-mail list. And, if/when you see the contract you want, CALL them about it; don't e-mail. Our contract was for sale approx 4 hours when we made the offer and the seller accepted. I haven't seen another contract listed that was the low-point, fully-loaded contract like we got (and even the UY we wanted!).

Of course, if you just want the contract quickly and painlessly, you could pay Disney the premium for it. For me, it's worth the wait to get what I want at a pretty good $-savings.

I too have noticed that the emails do not match up with the web site. I think the emails are giving you advanced notice. However, the emails that I get from the TSS says that there are over 11,000 people on the email list. It recommends that you call right away if you see something you want.

I agree with the op that VWL smaller contracts are few and far between, but If you keep an eye out they do pop up.

If there is something specific you want I would call and let them know to be on the look out.

Thanks for the advice. I just cannot see paying Disney $20+/pt more than TTS. I will just get the cash ready and be patient and try to find the contract I want when the time comes. Paying the Disney premium $$ gave me a warm fuzzy feeling for my first contract almost 10 years ago. Now, it's just more $$$ in Disney's pocket and less in mine.
