An ebay item I am looking at.... is there really a point to this? Are they just hoping that people will not notcie the shipping cahrges? And, this could be shipped media mail for less than $3

And, yes, I understand, that if you don't like the terms, don't buy it. But this one is ridiculously funny to me. The actual item really sells for about $35 if you can get it in a store, but you can't get it in one any longer.

Why not price the item AND the S & H reasonably?

I agree, I was looking at a purse the other night and really seriously considering buying it. The purse would easily fit into a Priority Box which is what like $3.50? Anyway I didn't see shipping listed. It was one where you put your zip code it. I did and shipping NORMAL MAIL was $36.00! It said shipping covers packaging material etc. Well the last time I looked the priority boxes are free! I'm so glad I didn't bid, I would have been so mad!

I thought I heard ebay was doing something about overcharging for shipping? Was I dreaming? :confused3

I always look at the shipping price before bidding. People on ebay are crazy and will put outrageous amounts in sometimes.

And I've been one of the fools who has been in a hurry and not looked before I committed to being overcharged for shipping. It's never been quite that offensive, but enough that I should have learned my lesson the first time and not the . . . . . fifth.

I saw one the other day.. can't remember what the auction was for but it was no more than a 1-2lb item... shipping was $99.95!!!! :rotfl2:

Same here. I always factor in the shipping price and decide if it's really worth it or not. Many times, it's not!

The sellers are trying to avoid paying fees to ebay (they don't pay a percentage of the s/h). Ebay is suppose to do something about it, but they have to be informed of it first.

I did see something on the news within the last week or so that said ebay was going to do 'something' about outrageous s&h costs. I don't know what that 'something' is, but I can't wait!!

Ah.... now it makes sense!

I remember my bf bought a cd rom with info about my car from the company listed for .99 buy it now with 10.00 shipping and it came in a regular envelope with a .37 ( I think that's what it was when this happened) stamp.
