Butterfly Place - Key West?

We were there several weeks ago and it is truly great! It is near the end of Duval St. on the right hand side. It was my understanding that the place had only been open a couple of months so it is new. You enter thru a two room gift shop and then enter thru a double door air lock (so the butterflies can't get out) into a large greenhouse. I would guess it is maybe 50 ft square - not large at all. It has a small stone pathway, a little river, a small bridge and lots of plants both on the ground and hanging. Of course there are the hundreds of butterflies all over - up high and down near the ground. They are many colors - bright blue, yellow, lime green, coral, etc. Also many sizes - from the tiny wings barely an inch across to those that are 3 or 4 inches across. It was really lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it and it seemed that all of the children who were there were enjoying it also. Not too many teenagers, but a lot of kids between 8 and 12 yrs old. None seemed really anxious to leave so I guess that would be considered a plus!! We are two 64 yr old's our son age 40 and his daughter 15 months. I think we paid about $30 some dollars for the 4 of us but don't hold me to that. It was a great change from the usual 'shop till you drop' that occurs in most ports.

Hi this is shirley and as I have mentioned many times am an old conch from Key West - I checked out the Butterfly farm out when I was there was month - spoke with the owners etc and I was quite impressed with it - I wish it would have been there when I was growing up - I know it is something the whole family would enjoy - also I do have some coupons that has discounts which would help on the fare - I posted here last month all the particulars on it, but I do not know how to find it - anyhow if you would like some of the information I have of Key West that I share with those going down to my hometown - all you have to do is send a SASE (make it about a 8" manilla envelope with about $3.50 in postage attached and I will be more than glad to send them to you - there is no other cost and no strings attached - also remember that anyone that wants to rent the electric cars - they will give you 20% off if you tell Phil or Sandy that I recommend them to you -

I saw the brochure for the butterfly place in the package you sent. I hadn't heard of it before, but I think it is something we would love. Our local zoo does a butterfly exhibit every year and it is one of our favorites.
