I really enjoy the butterflies in the garden. :daisy: They love the butterfly bush next to the pond and stop by frequently. Whenever I can I try to take pics of them. Here's a slideshow of some of my butterfly pics. :3dglasses
Butterflies in my garden

It says that you have to sign in to view the album but the one that I could see was beautiful. I have a few nice butterfly pics that I will post.

Deb...beautiful pictures. I can never get them to sit still like you and Wendy did! looks almost like they are modeling for you!

Awesome Butterfly. I love sitting and watching them.

Thanks Buds, I get such a kick out of taking pics of butterflies when they drop in. They're here one minute and gone the next. You never know what kinds going to flutter by or when. I try to get close to them and off they go or they move to another flower and I have to refocus and setup again. Very frustrating but exciting when I think I have a good pic. Then of course I put it on my computer and discover the perfect shot is a big blur :rotfl:

Hope you all get to see them. The pics are on Image Station. It's a free service you sign up for once. They don't bug you with junk emails at all it's great!
I'll post some here for ya Wendy.

This one landed on a forsythia branch for a much needed break. He had been fluttering around the butterfly bush. Must've been exhausted from his damaged wing.

Beautiful! I know about blurry, for every good picture I get I have 3 blurry ones when trying to photograph something like a butterfly. I have been blessed with more than my share of butterflies..they love the lantana that comes up as weeds around here and the shrub in the pictures (I can't remember the name but will try to find out)

I just discovered they really like Rose Of Sharon too. I have pics somewhere of a Monarch inside the flower. Because the flowers are so big they really get lost. Until this season I never saw them go for Rose Of Sharon.

Beautiful pics Deb!!!! I always love to look at your pictures!!! :flower:

Great pics. I see you have one of those moths that look like a hummingbird too. They just love butterfly bushes.

Thnx Buds :cloud9: Yesterday was a good day for butterflies. They were fluttering in and out. Everytime I put down the hose took off my gloves & got the camera they'd flutter away. Makes actually getting a pic even more of a challenge. I love a pic challenge especially when it's a Kodak moment like yesterday:love:

Lizzydoll, Absolutely, the Hummingbird moths are wild for the butterfly bushes. weird, nothing else. :confused3

The frustration of trying to get those butterflies to be still! I have a relatively small, fenced yard and they will flutter away over the fence just before I can get my camera focused  It has been so hot and humid here I can't tolerate being outside long enough to get a good shot. But I do have some more to load onto photobucket and then I will try to get them posted. I figured out what the plant is in my pics that the butterflies just love. It is called Jatropha, it is hardy here but not very cold tolerant. On our coldest winter nights it gets a little burned.

Very interesting plant. It could be grown in a pot for the patio or deck up here in the northeast. I'd enjoy having butterflies up on the deck. They fly through the gazebo on their way to the butterfly bushes. To get them to stop for awhile would wonderful.
Yesterday the hummingbirds paid a visit to the roses. What a great pic that would be!

I have noticed one or two sprouts in my flower beds that appear to be Jatropha. I have already promised those to my sister, maybe next summer I will have more to share if your interested. I don't know how easy this plant would be able to find outside of Florida. Of course you could always use that as an excuse to go to Disney :flower: I am trying to train my Jatropha into a small tree. I will try to post a picture of the entire plant soon.

That sounds great! The website said spring is the time to start new shoots but whenever would be greatly appreciated! :sunny: A trip to Disney to buy plants:rotfl: DH would go for that :rotfl2:
Love to see pics of your tree. Is it very fragrant? Looks like it would be.

No, no fragrance that I have noticed but mine is far more beautiful than the one pictured on that website. It has glossy leaves some of which are tri lobed and Vivid pink flowers. It has been in the ground around 2 years (which goes for everything in my garden, we bought a new house with nothing but grass) and it has grown by leaps and bounds I had no idea how big it would get because it was given to me and had no information with it. I will see how the sprouts I give to my sister do so I have a better idea.
