This may have already been shared, but we just got back and I was reviewing my receipts and discovered that the price for butterbeer is not quite the same at the outside cart as it is in the Three Broomsticks. Outside it is $3.25 with no tax. Inside, it is $2.99 plus $.20 tax, so $3.19 total, a difference of $.06. Not a huge deal but kind of annoying. The price should be the same everywhere. So make sure you buy your butterbeer inside, not at the cart, and let them know why you are doing that.

That's weird..

I always get it from inside so I don't really know about the cart.

Thanks for the heads up.

The might have just rounded up for the carts outside to make it easier for the change issue. Plus isn't it worth a couple cents for the convenience of not having to go and wait in line inside.

I've always found the lines are shorter inside anyway.

We were there for 2 days and bought butterbeer at the cart and inside. We had no wait either place so that didn't matter. Even if there had been a wait, they still shouldn't be charging two different prices just a few feet away from each other. That would be like Filch's charging a different price for an item than Zonko's or Dervish and Banges. Again, not a huge deal but just one of those little things that makes you wonder what they were thinking. Surely, I won't be the only person to notice.

It is a bit strange. But, I also assume it is for the convenience factor of change to keep the lines outside moving faster. When we were there last week, the lines at the cart outside were huge - at least a half hour wait most times we went by. The lines at 3 Broomsticks were very long too. No wait at all at the Hogs Head so we always got our Butterbeer there. We all loved the frozen!

What we saw a few times at the Butterbeer cart was people all lined up on one side with virtually no one on the other side. It was weird.

I don't care if they charge $3.25 or twice that, this stuff is SOOOO good.

Does the cart take credit cards?

altho I'm not cerrtain, I would think they do...they take room keys.

that said, the cart doesn't take discounts, but HH does. For THAT reason alone, I always went into HH for it.

inside you're buying various itemsso the actual bill will be paid with a large bill or card, outside you're buying butterbeer alone, so for ease of use they give a price which doesn't involve change, multiples of quarters are easy to deal with in a very quick service enviroment.

I agree it is much nicer to wait inside (air conditioned) at Hogshead, and you get the AAA discount too!

Not necessarily. We went inside and just bought a butterbeer. I've seen lots of tips saying to go inside because of shorter lines. We mainly went in because we wanted to see the place but also to get a butterbeer.

Next time I go I'm buying my regular butterbeer inside, not because it's a bit cheaper but because when I bought it from the outside cart it just wasn't very cold, the same for the pumpkin juice in the bottle.I did go in late July during a couple of days when the highs were in the upper 90's every day.I don't know if inside it'll be colder but it's worth a shot.
