Butter Beer?

I've been hearing about the Butter Beer available at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Does anyone know if it is actually Beer? Or it is more like root beer and non-alcoholic?

Do they have different flavors or just the one?

I also heard that they don't serve any soda at any of the restaurants in Harry Potter World. Is this true? If so, what do they have available to drink?

According to the reports on the Today Show Butter Beer is not real beer but akin to very sweet cream soda.

Yes, it tastes similar to cream soda with a topping that tastes like a whipped cream mixed with marshmallow cream mixed with a bit of butterscotch.

Butterbeer is non-alcoholic. You can get it chilled or frozen. It is only one flavor. It has been reported that it tastes like a combo of butterscotch and cream soda.

The frozen is MUCH better and we agree, it tasted like cream soda. The unfrozen was too sweet and the butterscotch flavor was much stronger (in our opinion). No sodas. They have pumpkin juice, apple juice and water.

Wow. That's what I had heard and I was afraid that was true. Just so odd. I suspect there are going to be many upset when they get in line to order and shocked to find they can't get a coke or mountain dew.

yes. i understood for that to be the case at the carts to keep the theming but was surprised in the restaurant. Of course you can bring your own from just outside WWHP.

The frozen slushie kind of Butterbeer tasted much better than the liquid. It definitely tasted like cream soda with a butterscotch flavoring.

There are no sodas sold in the area but just outside Hogsmeade has several places to buy it so if you want one, just pick it up there.

The pumpkin juice was strange. Maybe it was because it was 8:45am when I had it but I didn't like it much.

Seeing what is going on today makes me very happy we were able to get in during soft openings. We won't be going back to US/IOA for a year or 2 so maybe the area will calm down by then.

If anyone can get a list of ingredients for the butterbeer I would love you forever. I saw a picture of the ingredients of the pumpkin juice (yay, DS and DH can have it!), but of course not the butterbeer as it's a draft drink. So if anyone got the ingredient lists for their own purposes and could post it...it would be fabulous.

My dad didn't like it either, but he doesn't like pumpkin in general. I loved it!

To the OP: they sell butter beer, regular beer, water, iced tea, lemonade, lemon slush, flavored iced teas, and flavored ciders.

We all really liked the pumpkin juice. It was served to us with breakfast and we purchased bottles of it later.

We all really like mulled apple cider and it is similar to that.

I have an unopened bottle in the fridge. I tried the pumpkin fizz---yuck. I'll stick with the pumpkin juice. I do need to buy a few more bottles to bring to my cousins...

From what they were saying on the Today Show, it's a 'closely guarded secret'. I'm sure it will be leaked at some point.

A friend of mine posted this alcohol version a week ago on FB.

Butterbeer Martini

This drink is sweet and somewhat strong. Chill ingredients for at least two hours prior to mixing.

1 oz. each of top shelf vodka, Butter Shots (butterscotch schnapps) and cream soda.

Shake vodka and Butter Shots with crushed ice and strain into martini glass. Slowly stir in chilled cream soda.

Really good for Harry Potter theme parties.
