Busy this coming week (week afterThanksgiving)

Tuesday morning was crazy busy! We made it to magic morning along with everyone else it seems, main street was wall to wall people. Fantasyland had huge queues for everything, even Snow White had a queue! It was really unpleasant. The wait times on the app were inaccurate as well. Many showed 5mins when the real wait was 20-25. Once the rest of Disneyland opened it improved but still busy.

Interestingly, it got quieter in the afternoon.

I won't bother doing the early morning again.

Yesterday, Wednesday, was pretty quiet. Much quieter than Tues.

We've been here since Fri and I thought Mon and Tues this week were busier than a lot of the weekend after Thanksgiving - and with much shorter opening hours and less entertainment.

Thanks! It will just be my husband and I, so weaving through crowds/stores isn't really a big deal for us. I'm probably blowing the crowds far out of proportion in my head...but if I set my expectations for really. really, really insane, then I'm pleasantly surprised if it's just really insane. :) Our plan is pretty much exactly that...to just stay in areas away from Main Street all day, rather than try to leave and come back. We thought about going to DCA first, then hopping to DL later in the afternoon but I wasn't sure how late we could push it...so I thought we might be better off to just start in DL and save park hopping for later in the week.
A couple years ago, I had had to head to Frontierland and was trying to get back to the turnstiles at about 3pm. It took me 30 mins to get from the Emporium to the Tour Guide Gardens (maybe 300 feet!)

This bypass tunnel, is it obvious when it's open or do I need to look for it/ask someone?
It isn't obvious usually. Coming into the park, stay to the right, and the opening is between the hat store and the Showcase. Following it back, you will end near the Plaza Inn. Leaving the park, the outgoing bypass tunnel is by Jolly Holiday and COke corner.

Thank you so much for these incredibly helpful directions!! :) Now, just crossing my fingers that they'll have it open.

I'm definitely mentally preparing myself for those kind of crowds (30 minutes to go 300 feet, I mean). It's going to be hard since it's our first day...you know, that feeling when you first walk in and you just want to do everything *right now*! Just have to keep reminding myself that we have four other days to accomplish things and the priority on Sunday is Paint the Night. As long as I don't miss our one opportunity to see this, I'll be happy!

It was a 9am MM for a 10am opening, right? Those later ones definitely get packed; I wouldn't abandon future 7am or even 8am ones based on that experience.

Regarding the crowds, I walked into DCA yesterday morning around 8:20 and that place was empty like I've never seen. Before leaving at 10, we met Oswald, Mickey, Goofy, Elsa (Anna was missing), Doc, and Sofia without more than one family in front of us for any of them (I mean, Mickey with no wait?!?). We also rode Luigi's, Mike and Sully, and Ariel (all walk-ons), and we got a Mickey gingerbread, danced around the Animation room for awhile, and got WOC FPs (which were our reason for going). It looked like RSR was down, so Tow Mater had an actual wait and there were a lot of people just sitting in the FP line for that (and I imagine other E-tickets were affected), but for a preschooler, it was amazing!

We went back for WOC that night, and while it was busier, it certainly didn't seem "crowded."

This was a little after 9, more than an hour after park opening:

We were at the parks Saturday for the afternoon and early evening. We are from the pnw so it didn't bother us with the rain for quite a while, so we did quite well with rides. Sunday through Thursday were pretty great, especially Thursday for magic morning.
