Well, I just read a thread on the Resorts board that said that there's a cheerleading thing and something called Mousefest going on at Disney on the first week of December. Which is, coincidentally, the same week we will be there! :scared1: Does this mean that I'm not going to get my nice, quiet Disney Christmas vacation? When we went last time (March a few years back) there was a cheerleading thing going on down there as well; holy moly but some of them had some very thorough vocabulary! My daughter got quite an education, but not exactly what I was looking for. Not to mention there wasn't room to turn around... :sad2:

Eeeek! :scared: :faint:

We're going at the same time. From info. I've gathered on other threads, Pop Warner (the football/cheerleading thing) doesn't have a huge impact on the daytime crowds at parks (due to the competition schedules). It DOES fill the value resorts and moderates (except Coronado Springs) so it will impact you if you are staying there. You can do a search for more details on Pop Warner.

Mousefest is not huge by Disney standards, I think only a few thousand participate (DIS experts please correct me if I'm wrong).

So, it should still be a good time to go. Enjoy your vacation. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi we are also going then. I have read the same as buffalogirl about pop/warner but the baseball major league thing is going on as well. I have tried to find out more about this- I think I'll do a search in this thread. We have always come down during Wine and Food but would love to see all the christmas happenings. They also tape the Christmas parade on 1 and 2 of Dec and may have more people coming for that as well!!
Hey I can't complain, I won't be in Canada I'll be in my warmer home in WDW! :cheer2: !

Let me know what you guys find out about that Pop Warner thing too. We are thinking now of going that week too. DH just mentioned today that would be a good week. We want to stay at the Values too, but we are going to be booking last minute whenever we go.

I'm going that week too. I didn't know about Pop Warner or MouseFest or understand why there was almost no vacancy at most of the WDW resorts. Regardless, I plan to have a great time there!

Well that really sucks!! What resorts were sold out?

We will be there 12/1-8 but have made up our minds that it will be magical! Apparently Pop Warner is more of a disturbance at the resorts where they are staying (crowds at buffets).

Seems like the deluxe and moderates are pretty filled--we tried to add a day to our reservation at the Poly and weren't able to.

But it will all be wonderful!!! (We will be avoiding Main Street and the taping over the week-end, though!)

Almost all of them. For example, try booking something on Disney's web site for December 1st to December 7th. On a good day, I'd find the odd room available for $400+/night. On a bad day, the cheapest room is a suite for $990/night. It's definitely not in my budget to pay $5940 for six nights of accommodation at Disney.

over at stupidguesttricks theres a major thread about the cheerleaders, apparently a lot of them got in trouble for - umm, over exposure... to each other, in places they shouldnt... and yes there were a ton of complaints too.

God i am glad im not going until the 11th of Dec :thumbsup2

Ugh! My DH mentioned going that week and we wanted to stay at a Value. I had looked a few weeks ago and they wee open then. Did they just book there hotels in the last week or so? I swear nothing can go right for us.

Yes, Pop Warner is only a nuisance at the Value Resorts (and Coronado Springs as overflow I guess). I chose this week and was told by *MANY* Disers not to let it ruin my trip--that it doesn't impact the park crowds at all. So, we decided to stick with this week and we're going to enjoy it!!! I know there are also a ton of conferences this week so that is why resorts are booking up.

About the conference people----know they are filling the hotel rooms and probably the dinner reservations---do they go to the parks during the day or do they "conference"?

Just found this in the Passporter Newsletter...

Lilyian asks: "Does anyone know why the Disney resorts seem to be sold out 12/3 and 12/4? Does the fact that Disney Resorts are full mean that the parks will be especially crowded?"

Dave & Jennifer answer: "Early December has a variety of special events - conventions, Pop Warner, etc. This fills the hotels, but the rest of the hotels in Orlando are quieter than a mouse (so to speak). Even with every on-property room filled, you can't come close to filling the parks. To fill the parks, you need a lot of folks coming in from off-property, too, and they're just not out there. Most of those events at Disney are also keeping the participants busy outside the parks for much of the day - at Wide World of Sports, and in the convention halls. No, the parks won't be empty, but most of the time they won't be close to crowded, either."

YEAH!!

You will love being there at these times.

I will be at WDW from Dec 8-13th...anything major going on during that time? I know my convention is happening then, prob 20,000 or so, but I don't think many of the convention goers will be staying on WDW property (I will be, of course)...he he he

Actually they are.
The week of the 3-10th is basically booked up at almost all the resorts. I have been looking into possibbly going that week, and only expensive hotels are left at this point. So I doubt we will go then, since i want to stay on property, but looking at the Value resorts. I am just amazed that so many hotels are booked.
