Busy first week of January?

Thinking of putting in a quick trip next month with Kids Fly Free....

Is it still really busy the first week of January, or is school back in in California then?

We don't go back until the 8th, so thought it might be good to go the 3rd-9th or so, so the kids don't miss so much school.
