What the heck is wrong with MTV? Now they have a show busted. I saw it for the first time last nite. Great thing for kids to watch, glorify getting arrested.

I have seen it.

I do not think it glorifies getting arrested. If anything it shows you how not to act like a complete jerk in front of the cops. The kids who are polite, tell the truth, and cooperate generally get off with a warning. The ones her argue generally end up with a record. I would title the show "How NOT to be an Idiot".

Hubby and I sometimes laugh at some of the scenarios. Many teens seem to think they are invincible and won't get caught for the stupid things they do.

I was bothered by some of the kids attitudes after the fact. Even after time passed and the minor offense had cost them money there were kids who were defending their behavior. For ex. the kid who said they don't check for misdemeanors at fast food restaurants.
I hope my teens are smart enough to see this for what it is and recognize idiots. I had quite a discussion with my one college son while watching this last night. He believes that most people don't know their rights or the laws in their states.

I don't think it glorifies being arrested. The one show I saw a kid was busted for smoking pot and he's scared to death that he's going to lose his scholarship which would result in him not going to college at all. It shows what really happens to you when you get busted. Some of the kids don't give a damn, but isn't that the attitude of alot of kids now days anyway?

I suppose you could use the show as a talking point. Of course, I don't watch MTV at all. I saw an episode of ******* on time when some girls in my dorm had it on, and it convinced me there are no redeeming qualities to that tv station. I've also seen bits of My Super Sweet 16 when I was channel surfing, and that just reinforced my opinion.

I honestly do not understand the appeal of this station. I thought it was Music Television. What on earth do any of these shows have to do with music?

In no way does this show "glorify" being arrested. That's ridiculous.

Busted highlights the realities of getting arrested and the mistakes that come with it. It's one of the few shows on MTV that has a value to it that is more than just entertainment. This show follows shows like "Engaged and Underage" and "True Life." It has a great educational value to it, especially for high school-aged children.

When I was watching busted live, they showed a girl getting arrested for underage drinking and everyone thought it was funny. :confused3

I grew up on MTV and never once had the desire to get busted, get punk'd or indeed punk someone else, behave in any of the ways demonstrated on *******, have a super sweet 16 or pimp my ride.

Half an hour of TV isn't going to change a lifetime of parenting.

That was my impression also. I think the fact that it is ON MTV may be a problem. My teens don't take any thing on that channel seriously so they viewed it as one more "funny" reality show.

I do not think it glorifies getting arrested. ::cop: ::cop:

I think you have to be stupid to be on the show. Getting arrested the first time was bad now letting everyone know about is taking stupid to a new level.

Don't let your kids watch MTV. Problem solved.

I don't thinnk it glorifies being a criminal any more than Speeders or COPS does. Frankly, the show I despise most is The Girls Next Door which glorifies being a prostitute, bec that is all those 'girls' are -- they are getting paid to sleep with a dirty old man.

Don't want to sound too santimonious (I make many mistakes as a parent), but shows such as this one are a main reason I don't have cable in my home (just the basic channels). I just don't want to PAY someone to bring this kind of questionable material to my DD.

I sincerely hope it's one reason she likes to read so much. She doesn't like most t.v.

I really don't think there's anything on MTV that kids have any business watching. For that matter, I've never seen anything on there that didn't seem like a complete waste of time and brain cells for anyone. I miss the days when MTV actually played music videos and music news. Of course, these days that would be just as bad. I wouldn't let my oldest watch rap videos with my younger two in the room when she still lived at home. Sheer trash.

My 14 year old son likes to watch it, and it's probably the ONLY thing we'll let him watch on MTV. As a parent, it's reassuring to me when he watches it because he expresses to me what "idiots" the people on the show are when we watch it together.

Well I too was "not allowed" when I was 12 or 13 to watch MTV and that was when they actually played Videos. I had to sneak at my grandparents to watch the Real World haha. Back then it was worth watching because they dealt with real issues today is just who sleeps with you and who gets drunk enough and starts a fight.

Its sad that is what it has become. However my parents did a fine job even after they allowed me to watch it and even when I sneaked late at night haha.

I am a good person and I have good values, its a shame that now they promote having these huge sweet 16 parties and that these young girls grow up way too fast. I mean I was a bit of a late bloomer but still I knew what was going on around me and because my parents raised me with good morals but still allowed me to learn on my own.
