I find the busses at WDW very hit and miss, sometimes I catch the buss just as it arrives, or just before it leaves, but often, I just miss it, and have to wait upwards of 40 minutes (yes, 40!). I did have a couple of times where I was the only one on the buss. One night, when I went to Disney Springs, there where no busses at all. A guy in a vest said "I just called them all in, they will be here in 2 minutes". I was very skeptical, but, sure enough, in rolled 10 busses, the first one that arrived, he said "That one will go around the corner, pick up up, and leave right away for your resort". That is exactly what happened, nice!
I did do some Ubering while in WDW, I am thinking about staying at a Universal resort next time, and just use Uber to get to and from the initial park I go to for the day.

I'm such a fan of being in the 'Disney bubble' that I don't think I would want to commute all the way from Universal to WDW each day of my trip. To me, the only reason to stay at Uni would be to get express pass, and if I wasn't visiting there I don't think I would care to stay there. An offsite hotel closer to WDW would be faster and cheaper. My preference is to be onsite at WDW, use their transportation, and Uber within the property if I don't feel like dealing with the busses.
