Bush pauses to comfort teen

'This girl lost her mom in the World Trade Center on 9-11'

By Kristina Goetz
The Cincinnati Enquirer

In a moment largely unnoticed by the throngs of people in Lebanon waiting for autographs from the president of the United States, George W. Bush stopped to hold a teenager's head close to his heart.

Lynn Faulkner, his daughter, Ashley, and their neighbor, Linda Prince, eagerly waited to shake the president's hand Tuesday at the Golden Lamb Inn. He worked the line at a steady campaign pace, smiling, nodding and signing autographs until Prince spoke:

"This girl lost her mom in the World Trade Center on 9-11."

Bush stopped and turned back.

"He changed from being the leader of the free world to being a father, a husband and a man," Faulkner said. "He looked right at her and said, 'How are you doing?' He reached out with his hand and pulled her into his chest."

Thanks so very much, Geoff. What a wonderful story, what a picture. Reading that all, the picture, gave me a few tears too. :o
.....But this was the real deal. I was really impressed. It was genuine and from the heart.
So true, you can just see it.

Before reading all the way to the bottom f your post, but just the first few lines along with the picture, I was saying this same thought to myself.....
...the leader of the free world to being a father, a husband and a man
Thanks, we needed that.

Her mother used to work where me and shep work, though we didn't know her.

Thank you for posting that. You can tell his genuine sorrow at the loss of the girl's mother in his face.

Good job President Bush, good job.

Thanks--the media is so slanted--it's nice to get a picture every now and then of who President Bush really is

Great story! Thanks for sharing it. :)

It had a few tears going here also.

I saw that earlier on Drudge...thanks so much for posting it here. Gives us a glimpse at what I believe is a very good man at heart, no matter how the media slants him. Genuine.

Thanks so much for posting this story and the link. I have to wipe the tears from my eyes long enough to forward the link to a few of my friends.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this postive Bush story!!!!

It's very nice to hear something nice for a change!

I saw them (Dad and daughter) this morning on one of the AM shows. It was so touching. The dad said it all came about so fast. The neighbor got the tickets last minute,so he let his daughter stay out of school to go.

Thank you.
God Bless our President

Thanks for sharing, Bush is a TRUE man........Faith.;) ::yes::
