Never been to busch gardens, we are planning a trip down to florida in august and was wondering how busch gardens is? Does it take a whole day to go through it? We are also doing kennedy space center, we have 2 kids 8 and 5. Is both of these places worth going to. We dont plan on doing disney, except for disney quest this year. Want to see what else the area has to offer and do some things that we have never done before. TYIA

Busch Gardens has some great coasters and some good animal exhibits. I don't think it's as top notch as some of the other parks in Orlando, but it's worth your time to visit. Montu and Kumba are excellent coasters. I've done Busch Gardens in one day, but to ride the rides and see the animals takes about 2 days.

Busch Gardens also has a water park. Right now there is a deal going on, both parks for 2 days for $61.00 (adult price). That deal expires at the end of May. If it is extened through June, we may go ahead & buy tickets over the internet.

JMHO,

Just got back from Clearwater Beach. Spent part of a day at Busch Gardens.

I wish we hadn't gone. It was not worth it for us. We have a 4 yr. old and a 6 yr. old. It just didn't do anything for us. We had been there before a few years ago and liked it.

They no longer have the monorail type ride that takes you through the animal section. They only have tram cars which our kids did not like.

They no longer have a dolphin show which we really like last time we were there.

A lot of the stuff for little kids was closed. It was HOT. I can't imagine what it would be like in August.

We just felt like there were too many gift shops, too many icky places to eat and not enough "real" stuff to do for our kids.

We went this past Feb. for two days with our kids 3, 5, and 7. It's no Disney and the first day it was hot and crowded and we had an awful day. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. We had fun on some rides and liked the animals but didn't make it to any of the shows. Overall, not impressed.

However, I had bought a fun card (good for a whole yr. but the same price as a 1 day admission) so we went for a second day. We had a blast! It wasn't crowded and everything that could go right, did go right. The children were picked to participate in shows and we were even given free popcorn as a stand was closing. We hit all the shows and they were phenomenal. We were so impressed with the ice skating show and the Russian acrobats. I had never seen shows like that. You will not be disappointed if you can make the shows. The animals were great too but the shows are not to be missed. They have some fun water rides also. Give it a try. Have fun. We're planning on going back again this Dec. to get one more use out of our fun pass. Enjoy!!

It's probably fair to say it is easy to go wrong at BG, but I like the park a lot and there is a lot there if you can take your time and avoid the worst of the crowds. For kids, there are smaller rides in both Timbuktu and Congo, plus the superb Land of the Dragons play area and show. For the whole family, the ice show, Moroccan Roll, the Bird Show and the Mapapa Acrobats (replacing the Russian troupe) are all worth seeing. Then there are three genuine five-star coasters, two smaller coasters and two other midway-type rides, two log-flumes, a water rapids ride, the excellent Rhino Rally and the up-close animal encounters of Edge of Africa and Myombe reserve. Brand new is the 3-D movie Haunted Lighthouse (lots of fun, although it might scare young children), and the Akbar's Adventure ride (currently down for rehab) is another of the area's good simulator rides. There is also The old Festhaus has been converted into the Desert Grill and there is a new show there which sounds as if it should also be good all-round fun. Add in all the other zoo elements, Anheuser-Busch extras like Beer School, the Clydesdales and their Hospitality House, and you have a really deep all-day family attraction - provided it is not too crowded.

We had a mid week visit towards the end of August last year and it was very quiet. The queues for the big rides were hardly ever longer than 10 minutes.

We went to both Busch Gardens and Kennedy Space Center in April 2002. We (DH, DS(13), DS(5), DD(18 mo.) and myself) enjoyed both places. My sister gave us free passes to Busch Gardens as she's employed by Busch but we would pay to get in if we had to. Both my oldest DS & I loved the coasters (DH gets motion sickness) and my DS(5) and DD loved the Land of Dragons kiddie area. We all love animals so we throughly enjoyed it there. I'm not sure if we would have as much fun in the August heat though.
I wasn't sure if our children would like the Kennedy Space Center but they did. Make sure to take the bus tour early- we almost missed it. Here is the link to Busch Gardens for info: www.buschgardens.com and The link to the Kennedy Space Center is: www.KennedySpaceCenter.com . Hope this helps you decide :D !
