We live in VA and bought Busch Gardens fun cards for Williamsburg. We have already been twice and are heading back over Memorial Day weekend. DD got hurt last night at gymnastics and has a severe spraign with her right foot.
She is in a huge boot and on crutches. I know we will have to get a wheelchair when we go next time and I didnt know if anyone has experience with a wheelchair at BG.
I dont remember seeing many on our trips (or at least young kids in them...older folks on scooters I did see lots). DD is 14 and loves the thrill rides. Im not going on them, so I wanted to know how they load wheelchair folks...do they to in regular lines? Some of the queues seemed very winding and small. My older kids will have to get her to the rides (they are 23 and 17). I just wanted to get a feeling for how it works. I know how it is at WDW as we have taken my DMom a couple of times in a wheelchair and WDW is great and easy.
Can someone help me out with how things work at BG? Thanks:thumbsup2

Those hills are a BEAR in a chair! Most lines as I recall are fairly east- a staff member will direct. I don't remember what restrictions exist, bit there may be a couple. It could be hard getting into some of the ride cars,

I was thinking the same thing right away....the hills. but she needs the wheelchair. just watch the one cut thru in the middle of the park, you go down and there is a boat ride, then you go back up the other side. on the front side, there was only steps, a lot of steps, to get to top. we had to carry our special needs stroller up and it was a workout.

I walk with forearm crutches and often use a wheelchair and was at BG last summer. As soon as you get there, go to guest relations or whatever it is called. They will ask her some questions and then do a little "exam" to make sure that she can do things like hold on to a bar, brace with at least one leg, etc. she will then get some paperwork that will tell her what rides she can go on. Most lines are not mainstreamed and you will often have to go in an alternate entrance. Several other members of your party are allowed to go with you.

The hills are killer. My DH got a good workout!

Thanks so much for the replies. I agree that those hills are killer. I think DH is dreading pushing that wheelchair through the parks.
After posting here I went on BG website to see if I could find any information and from what I read it appears that if you have a walking boot or cast you cant ride The Griffon, Alpengiest, Appolos Chariot and Ver Bolten. Ugg...these are the rides she loves (minus The Griffon)!
DD is in a walking boot so I hate that this may interfere with her riding. Anyone had any experience with the boot and the rides?

When you go to guest services in the park and they do her assessment, they will clearly see that she has a boot and will not put those rides on her allowable list. At each ride, they will check your paperwork. If a ride is not on her list she will not be allowed on.

As much as it might kind of stink for her, it is for her own safety as well as the safety of others.
