We are thinking of a visit to Busch, as we have free tickets and combining it with watching the launch from kennedy on the 8th (if it happens), as I am the only driver DH and I thought it would be better to stay the night near Busch, but I have heard that some of the nearby hotels are not all that great. Can anyone recommend a decent hotel not too far away. Thanks

Busch is in the oppsoite direction to Kennedy as Busch is near the Gulf Coast and Kennedy is on the Atlantic Coast. As for hotels near Busch I would of thought the better ones are closer to Tampa.

Thanks, now that's why I don't let DH navigate he insisted they were near each other, his sense of direction is abismal, my 15yr old son always does the map reading for me cos DH don't drive either and gets us lost every time he navigates. Well me and the kids will go to Busch and he can go to Kennedy - one problem solved:lmao:

How will your hubbie get there? Does he have tickets for the launch and I presume you are aware that launch dates can change. I know from what I have read that the traffic is extremely bad in that direction, taking about 3 hours to get there, when there is a launch. Some people have viewed the launch from a nearby beach.

If you do go to Busch Gardens, you could try La Quinta USF Tampa. We stayed there last year - it's at 3701 East Fowler Avenue. This is just north of the park and less than 5 minutes drive from the entrance to BG. The area around there was fine. The area around the entrance to the park on East Busch Blvd (where we stayed on a previous trip) was not so nice, but still ok.
BG is great, so do try to go - the rollercoasters are brilliant! And don't miss the hippo pool in Edge of Africa.
