So Adventures~
We did our first AbD trip in July to Costa Rica. Parts were awesome, parts were not.
What I figured out about the parts I didnt like was we had too much travel (bus time).
I would love to book another AbD, but I want limited travel.

Can anyone suggest one with little bus time....maybe that defeats the purpose ?!?
Thanks :thumbsup2

Not sure I can suggest one with a little bus time, but I strongly suggest avoiding the Ireland trip if that is your main concern. Lots of time on the bus and much of it on the highway where there is little of interest to see. Costa Rica was our first ABD and one with less bus time than some of the others, but they've changed the itinerary a lot since we did the trip, so you probably had a lot more bus travel than we did. There was a lot of time on the bus for the Alaska and Arizona/Utah trip but lots of beautiful scenery on both trips and bears, moose, etc. to watch out for in Alaska, so I actually enjoyed the travel time. We took the Alaska ABD in 2009 when they still flew into Fairbanks, but I think now with the trip starting in Anchorage there is much less time on the bus. I would definitely say Peru is the trip with the least bus time of the ones we've taken. But there is an internal flight and a train ride, but that's more interesting than being on a bus. Ecuador/Galapagos might be a good choice, since you spend a significant portion of the trip traveling by yacht. Or one of the DCL add-ons. If you're considering companies other than ABD, I highly recommend European river cruises. I found it a great way to travel. We did a family cruise so there were plenty of other kids. Good luck choosing your next trip!

When I took it, the London/Paris trip didn't have a lot of bus time. Really the only long travel time is the train between London & Paris. But they've changed the itinerary since then, and you travel out to the English countryside and Stonehendge, so that might add some bus time. I haven't done the Costa Rica trip, so I don't know what you consider "a lot of bus time".

The Scotland trip has a lot of bus time (but the scenery is gorgeous).

I don't agree on the Ireland trip, the bus rides were always broken up by stopping at various places I didn't find the bus time bad at all on Ireland

Scotland on the other hand there are 2 days with really long bus trips like 6 hours there is a stop in the middle on both trips but it was long.

We are doing Costa Rica this summer....when you say "too much" bus time...can you give me an idea of what you mean? How many hours at a clip? TIA!

Sadly, to see much of the area you are 'adventuring' to, it takes a bus, or a train, or a plane unless you pick an adventure that stays in the same city...like prior to a cruise (like Barcelona or Copenhagen)...some of the Adventures include many plane rides!!!

That's very true! :thumbsup2

However, some of the trips are more spread out than others, and include more bus time. What constitutes "too much" bus time is really kind of up to the individual...
