Is there a bus that goes directly from MK to MGM? If not what would be the best way to get from MK to MGM (fastest)?

I don't remember seeing one. The best way is to walk over to the CR and take their bus to MGM.

You can take the monorail or walk from MK to the Contemporary, then a bus to the Studios, or a bus to the Swan and then a boat to the Studios, or take any bus to any resort and then their bus to the Studios.
It is a little round about for sure.

You can PM me if you'd like for a link to a nifty little transportation calculator on another web site.

Enjoy!

The bus from the MK to the Studios leaves from the TTC. It's probably faster to walk over to the Contemporary and take the bus from there.

The laughing transportation wiz has several bus routes that haven't existed in over 5 years and incorrectly suggests taking a bus to EPCOT in order to go to the EPCOT resorts.

Lewisc, So the www.ourlaughingplace.com is NOT an accurate source for WDW transportation??? Great, that's where I downloaded all of my info from to get to A to B for my whole trip coming up in less than a month!! :scared1:
Are there any other links or websites that ARE indeed accurate???
Thanks so much!

Buses (boats/monorail/walk) go from every resort to every theme park. Buses (boat) goes from every resort to DTD. Buses go from every resort to the water parks. Look for an obvious theme park as a transfer point for resort to resort. You can walk (boat/monorail) from the MK to the Contemporary (Chef Mickey's).

EPCOT IS NOT A TRANSER POINT if you need to go to one of the EPCOT resorts. Post and ask if you have any other questions.

This is one of their suggested routes from POLY to the TTC. It's about a 5-10 minute walk.

Disney's Polynesian Resort Disney-MGM Studios Transportation & Ticket Center : 49 mins.

I assume it's a joke but the transportation wiz mixes in facts with inaccurate information with jokes.

Excuse me LewisC.

The first result of that transportation wiz is that walking time is 13 minutes which is almost exactly what you say. There are alternate routes offered, but they are certainly not offered as the primary route.

Not sure what your issue is with that site, but it is a very nice tool, along with common sense and some basic navigational skills.

I can't say if it is perfect for all scenarios, but for me, it has been useful and has at least pointed me in the right direction.

Have a magical day.

It may be. However, the Contemporary shares buses with the Polynesian and possibly the Grand Floridian (I've been on some buses that stopped there, and some that didn't). The TTC bus is direct to MGM. While walking to the Contemporary is probably quicker than taking the monorail to TTC, that time may be made up when the bus makes stops.

I don't like that transportation wizard thing either, it doesn't take all alternatives into consideration.

Yet all the alternatives do not always work (taking the small boat launches from MK for example may not be a good idea in bad weather).

The wizard shows a bus from CSR to the Boardwalk. That bus hasn't run in over 5 years.

The suggested route from AKL to Boardwalk Inn is
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Epcot® Disney's BoardWalk Inn : 42 mins

EPCOT is not a correct transfer point, it requires a long walk through EPCOT and park admission. The correct way is to transfer at the Studios. In fact the site suggests EPCOT as a transfer point for travel from many resorts to the Boardwalk resorts.

They show a bus from the WL to the TTC which, other then during times of construction at at the MK bus stop, hasn't run for years. The normal bus is now from WL to the MK and not to the TTC.

I sent a PM to the website years ago, they thanked me and said they'd update the wizard. Evidently they have no interest in keeping the wizard current.

My issue is the site is not updated and is inaccurate. I THINK IT'S A HORRIBLE TOOL.

I guess you don't consider accuracy an important critera for a nice tool.:confused3

edited to say I see you're going to be staying at the CSR. I hope you weren't planning on taking the non-existant bus from CSR to the Boardwalk.

The problem is, the bus from the Contemporary to the Studios stops at the Poly and the Grand Flo.

We found the launch to the Grand Flo, then the bus to the Studios to be the fastest if the launch is there.

If the launch isn't there, then the Express monorail to the TTC, then bus to the Studios is fastest.

Going to the Swan/Dolphin Boardwalk, etc., then walking is not a good option unless you are willing to walk from whichever stop it makes first. If you wait to get off at the Boardwalk and walk, you may be stopping at BC, YC, Swan/Dolphin THEN Boardwalk.

(The same situations apply for MK to Animal Kingdom, (except of course you don't want to go to the Epcot resorts to go to Animal Kingdom).

That particular transportation site isn't bad, but it does give incorrect info. Sorry if that bothers anyone, but it is the plain truth. People are much better off coming to an active discussion forum and asking for other's recent experiences.
So...again, if I were at the MK and wanted to get to MGM, I would walk to CR, about 8 mins, and take their bus.

The fastest way to get to the Epcot resorts is to take a bus to MGM and walk from there. There is a walking path to the Boardwalk and from there to the other Epcot resorts. It's a longer walk if you're going to Yacht/Beach but I think it is still faster than the boat.

Unless you have a park hopper and are willing to walk through Epcot, don't use Epcot as a transfer point for the Epcot resorts. The buses drop you off on the opposite end of the park, and there is no bus transportation from Epcot to the Epcot resorts.

I'm starting to agree with Carol that the fastest way to MGM from MK may be to take the launch to the Grand Floridian and catch the bus there.

So...again, if I were at the MK and wanted to get to MGM, I would walk to CR, about 8 mins, and take their bus.

Sure, you could do that, but the bus is going to make at least one and probably two more stops at other resorts before it goes to the park.
