Bus Accidents

We arrived at WDW on 12/13/03 (Caribbean Beach). When we checked in we saw a Mears bus,which had just plowed into a car. It seems the bus cut a corner too close and pushed the car into the curb/bushes. Then when we were coming home from the Magic Kingdom we saw a Disney bus and about 5 security/police cars, with others cars near by.

Just want to know if anyone has heard about these accidents. You know how hard it is to get information, while staying on property.

Bus accidents don't happen all that often on property. When it does happen they try to put a lid on it as quickly as possible. When it is a Disney bus security trys to get everybody out there ASAP to figure out what happened. Most of the times it is a guest that trys to cut the bus off and mis judges the amount of room that they have.

I was Caribbean Beach over the weekend. We saw those bus wrecks and two car wrecks, none too serious. I am always on the lookout while on property for the employees treating it like a private racetrack. I have even heard two bragging about going over 100 on the main entrance.

We3 just returned last night (Friday). On Wednesday evening we saw another bus crash, which involved 2 buses and one car, near the entrance ("Toll" booth) of the Magic Kingdom.

I was really surprised with the amount of accidents we saw this trip. Has anyone heard about these accidents? Or is Disney keeping it quiet?

I would immediately suspect that the accidents were not the fault of the bus drivers, but rather the people driving the cars. The driving around Orlando was some of the worst I've seen when I was down there in September. No signals. People cutting other people off a lot. Running red lights and stop signs often...

I've seen that a lot. Those folks go tearing onto Disney property off of route4, {the exit for downtown disney} Could they be that late for work, or do they just like to drive like maniacs? I'm just waiting for a deputy from Orange county to pull one of these clowns over. They do drive at extremely high speeds.

2 of the 3 accidents I saw were the fault of the bus drivers (1 was Mears and the other was Disney). The third accident I'm trying to find out.

You ACTUALLY saw the crashes when they happend? Three times?

1) Disney does not acknowledge accidents.
2) Are you sure these were not new attractions?

I know that I prevented a Disney bus from crashing into another one when I was visiting WDW in October. Our drive zoned out and didn't see that the bus in front of us was at a dead stop in the middle of the road. I started yelling. The driver snapped out of his coma. And he narrowly avoided plowing into the other bus at a VERY high rate of speed.

On the same trip, I was on another bus that nearly hit a crazy tourist who decided cut in front of the bus when our driver clearly had the right of way.

Needless to say, I drove my rental car EVERYWHERE when I returned to WDW in December. Just to be safe.

The disney bus drivers can be a little aggressive at times...the guest are probably worse; but worse by far are the local contractors and disney employees on their way to work in the mornings...those people are crazy drivers....come to think of it, disney must be a great place to work: those folks are sure in a hurry to get to their jobs...

sounds like any day in nh...i've been to several states now and i only know of one with ruder/worse drivers than here...it's amazing how agressive people can be, it's just too bad they didn't relax on vacation...because those accidents cant possibly make their vacations any less stressful

Blame the american lawyers. Because of them, having the right of way has very little weight in court.

Many accidents are judged just by who was ahead of the other at the moment of collision. Based on this, it would seem it is better to try to outrun rather than brake.

There is not enough disincentive against cutting in front of people. After all, the bumper sticker reads, "Go ahead, hit me. I need the money."

I am a defensivly offensive driver...

the only reason im alive today, and i can say this about 4 seperate occasions, is the fact i know how my car responds, and i make sure my car is in good order. And all 4 of those seperate incidents i had to floor it to save it... the gas pedal is your friend if you treat it nicely....also helps to have cars that dont hicup when you ask for gas....
I am anti-compact cars, if it has an engine original design for motorcycles dont waist my time or yours, buy a new car...
