BURSTING @ the seams with No one to talk to!

Leaving in 11 days for DD10's suprise birthday trip with DH, DD5, DD10, and me.

Me and my girls get so excited before a trip and we literally plan and pack for months prior. DH just rolls his eyes and says are we really talking about this again!

Anyway, since it's a suprise and neither of the girls know, I have no one to share my excitement with or plan with

Very hard to not just blurt it out, but have a big reveal planned that I would hate to ruin.

Thanks guys! We're telling them in the afternoon the day before we leave so at least I'll have a little time with them to be excited.

I know exactly how you feel. DH doesn't like talking about our WDW trips either. He enjoys going but he feels I ruin the fun with talking about it too much so I try to avoid discussing it with him. He lets me do most of the planning and give a little input here and there.

2 years ago we surprised our 2 DD's. We picked them up from school on the last day of school with the vehicle packed and ready to leave. Last year we told them a few days before we left. We packed in secret after they went to bed each night. It is so hard not to let it slip out because you are so excited.

I feel for you. My DH is sick to death of hearing about our trip. He isn't even going as he can't stand Florida and could live without ever going to Disney. My kids know about our trip, but they don't want to talk about the planning.

I put clothes aside when I put our summer clothes away, stored them and our suitcase at my parents' house. Going there tomorrow to sort, secrectly pack, and be sure we have everything and that DD10's summer clothes will still fit

I have also been secretly packing a box to ship to the hotel with snacks, etc. hiding under my desk at work. My co-workers think I'm nuts!

Amen to that! My kids talk about Disney every single day, no exaggeration. So hard to not say "this time you can do ..." or "we're gonna be eating at that new castle and staying at that new hotel!"

It's DD9's (going to be DD10) birthday on Thurs 4/18. Next Sunday we are having a family birthday lunch for her at which time she will open her present from us. I have gotten her a new backpack filled with the stuff we normally take to Disney and a few other things for the airplane ride. I also superinposed our family into a picture of a Little Mermaid room (where we are staying). Packed with the backpack in the box will be a balloon or two that will fly out when she opens the box. The balloons will have a card attached to it reading:

The bags are packed, it's not an act

We’ll leave in the morning when we should be snoring

Don't forget this backpack and everything inside, ‘cause you’ll need them for the airplane ride

To figure out where we’re going to fly, open up and spy with your little eye…

Then she will be freaking out to no end and DD5 will be crying that she doesn't have a backpack, but I'll have her exact backpack right nearby, and she'll be freaking out too!

Maybe I should give my guests cotton balls for their ears, it's gonna be LOUD!!

Other surprises include some relatives that we will "accidentally bump into" in DHS who will spend 3 days with us and "not being able to get into BOG", only to receive an invitation on her birthday for a special dinner and some grey stuff!

It went great! I have attached a youtube video of the reveal. It's pretty funny.

The trip was great too except that my gram passed away a couple of days in. My parents insisted that we stay as long as we could and so we stayed and flew home the day of the wake. The kids had a great time (they did not know of the death) and DH and I had a good time despite what was going on back home.

Aw, thanks for sharing! I must admit I cried when your daughter started crying. I am so excited to be taking my kids for their first visit in 3 weeks!

Thanks, yes it was an emotional moment and everyone who watches the video cries too. It was absolutely worth all of the alone planning and pre-trip convos.
