Burning question, how should I introduce DS to Star Wars?

DH and I are really doing some soul searching on this. It hasn't deteriorated into anyone sleeping on the couch yet and there has been no name calling but it has been something we have had to talk about. We want to be good parents and do everything right for DS so this is very important to us. Do we have him watch episode 4,5,&6 first, then do 1,2,3 like it was released and how we saw it, or, since it's a continuous story do we have him watch it in order, 1-6? Right now we are thinking he should see it like Lucas released it, but I still say it would give an interesting perspective to see it in order 1-6.
Being new parents we could really use your advice!

Sonya honey, you need to get some sleep if these are the questions you're worrying about! ;) :teeth:

DEFINITELY you need to do them in the order they were made; Sam has to appreciate all the subtle differences in the film making as technology changed over the years. ;)

That's what DH says, he says if we watch them in order then when DS gets to episode 4 he will be bored by the lack of technology, and those 3 are the best of the lot, IMHO

I vote for 1-6 in order.
And Sonya, honey? GET SOME SLEEP!!!
:D

Boy parenting delimieas never end do they?:p

Do it the way they were made.

And when did you both sleep last?;)

I vote for him to watch I Love Lucy episodes. You can watch them in any order.;)

I've only seen 4, 5, I think I've seen #6. I haven't seen the first ones. I can't bring myself to do it. Harrison made Star Wars what it is.:)

Sorry, I'm no help.;)

i vote for the order they were released in. :)

Another vote for the order of release. My DS LOVES Star Wars, too! Well, the whole family does! We've done Star Wars Weekends twice now and DH wants to go again next year. Not sure that will happen though

I vote 1-6 so as a fmily you can discuss how different it was when you watched it :)

:teeth: I struggled with the same thing and my DS is only 4. He actually got into it as a result of Star Tours at MGM, so it was only fitting that we watched at home. We started with Episode 1 even though I really wanted to show him episode 4/5/6 first. He hasn't seen 4/5/6 yet, mainly because I don't want to "ruin" 3 for him. I think for those of us who have seen 4/5/6 our amazement/enjoyment of 1/2/3 comes in the form of the technology, and the "surprises" of how Lucas gets us to the storyline of 4/5/6.

I think for my DS at 4 it would be too difficult a concept to understand that the middle of the "story" gets told first, then the beginning, the the end. So I opted for the time correct option, not release date option.

Good point about the age thing ToyStory Fan. That is something to think about!

Ooooooooo, SW Weekend! I had forgot, but I bet Sam will love that!!!!!
