why when I burn an mp3 might it not play in my car. My son's mp3's do play. They play in the house and on the pc.
Also, does anybody think brand name or price matters for blank cd's?

I'm not sure, but this happens to me too. Just curious what everyone else might think.

Maxwell blank CD's are really good, high quality, and cheap. I suggest using those. Or you may just not be burning the mp3's correctly.

I made this mistake once, you have to make sure you burn using a CD-R as opposed to a CD RW.

Most newer players can handle all the formats, but my 2000 Blazer wouldn't play a CD RW.

Are you burning them as an audio disk or as a data disk? Most car stereos aren't set up to play MP3 disks unless they're burned as an audio disk.

My car does play MP3 disks, but my husband's car doesn't.

how do i know if i'm burning it as an audio or data disk. It's not the discs though. I burned things as cd on the same discs and it worked.

The easiest way to tell is how many songs fit on the disk. :teeth: You can fit probably 150 or more MP3s on a CD, but maybe 15-20 audio songs.

I agree with the Maxell discs. That's all we've used and have never had a problem.

I also use a program called Sonic Record Now (though there are others) to burn my cds. When it 1st loads, you're given 3 options, one is audio cd for home or car (will burn in the format that CDs bought in the store are in) and you'll get maybe as many as 20 or so songs on the disc, the 2nd option is data disc....this would be for something like Word documents and stuff like that....the 3rd option is MP3 format and you'll get over 100 MP3s on one disc, but not all players recognize this format. Your computer would naturally, but I'm not sure the CD player in your automobile would.

Edit: I just opened the program and the 3rd option is not MP3 format, but rather exact copy. If you've got an MP3 that you wish to burn, it will burn in MP3 format if you choose exact copy. If it's another format, it will burn in that format, not MP3. Sorry if I confused anyone.
